I see that at Okanagan Hockey School here in Penticton. Lots of money in that program, most parents are wealthy Americans. One year one of the owners of the Wild had both their kids enrolled, bought a big house, boats etc.
Good part of the reason the Vee's are so good, kids get high end training here. - VanHockeyGuy
I attended that as a kid, still have the certificate of completion. My dad said I cried after the first day it was so hard in the mid 70’s 🤣 |

Unfortunately, it has meant that some good kids, who aren't as well off, have to go to a lesser quality hockey school, if they can afford that. |

No, your initial comment stated the league has always been white collar. That just isn't the case...bud. |

Yeah, but a bit misleading as well, as the year they had bottomed out they already had several big pieces in place. |

The conversation was about getting access to hockey schools at a young age.
Back in my day, very few rich kids played the sport, at least not in my region.
Not sure about Lefty and VHG, but we definitely were not rich and still played the game and occasionally went to a hockey school.
One kid I know of, who wasn't from a rich family, is now a head coach in the NHL, after being a player in the NHL.
His dad was a millwright and a former coach of mine. |

Its always had more money to play than most. Just need shoes to play basketball/soccer. A glove to play baseball. Just saying. It was more blue collar before, way back in the day for sure. |

Only took 9 years after drafting McKinnon to win the cup. 11 for Landeskog |

Yeah, but the graph only goes back six years. So the Canucks are literally five ish years behind the Avalanche, even though they finished 1-2 at the bottom of the standings that “one” year. |

Three kids I know who played with my son in Novice are now going to be in the WHL next year. All normal kids with working parents, just a step above talent wise. None of them likely make the NHL, but getting drafted to the CHL is a pretty big accomplishment. |
