It was a few years ago now, but i rememebr saying all three were first ballot HHOFers. Many, many hockeybuzz experts on here disagreed. |

GM Jim Benning and President Trevor Linden use the #6 overall pick in the draft to select Abbotsford native Jake Virtanen, missing out on Nylander, Pasterňák, & Ehlers.
Virtanen spent 6y in VAN, before being bought out amidst a criminal investigation.

I think probably as many agreed if you take away the alts.
Look at the depth on teams competing for the cup. Aside from D and goaltending for a year or two this team hasn't had the depth. That's why losing Malholtra to that fluke injury was so tragic.

I thought that perhaps no Vezina and no cup would delay his deserved entrance. |

Should have won a vezina, and a Hart in 2006-07. 19 year old Sid won the Hart by leading league scoring by 6 points. Brodeur won the Vezina for setting the win record. Don't get me wrong he had a great season but he played on a much better team.
9 seasons with a sv % .920 or better. |

We could have kept the Sedins as PP2/offensive zone start players at a much lower cost for another year or two. There's your veteran presence. Yes they were slower, but they were still good for 10-15 minutes a night.
Use some draft currency an cap space to put a young team in place, learning the right way.
Same could be said for Edler, put him on your bottom pair. Instead we shell out huge money and draft capital for guys like Myers and OEL.
Our team would look a lot different with Chychrun and Nylander/Ehlers on it. |

It's not his job...... IDGAF if he wears the C.
The Sedins were the best PP players in the game when they were using that strategy minus maybe Ovechkin and Crosby.
Engergy guys need to be able to handle themselves physically, at least a few of them. That includes bottom pairing D.
