Possible. I don't usually make a trade to make a trade as it sometimes just makes more sense for those other teams to make a trade between them. Unless Van plans on retaining salary. Hard to see them doing that with their own limited cap space.

The thing about this draft though is that these guys are ranked all over the place. There are teams that have these guys ranked 10-15 range. Someone is going to slip but some will also go a lot higher than expected.

They lost the top playoff goal scorer of the entire league from the past 2 playoffs in the first round.

That's the kind of poop that makes you go 7 games in the conference finals vs winning in 5.

Just a couple of reasons they looked gassed.

Are they getting older? Absolutely.

Can they win again next year? Absolutely.

Definitely need to find a way to develop better defenders, find better defenders.

Bear probably on par with Poolman, slightly behind Schenn but ahead of Burroughs.

Van will have Brady Keeper coming back also who before he got hurt looked like a possible serviceable depth D.

In a proper role he played well. He was never worth what Benning paid for him and he was never as good as Benning made him out to be.

That's pretty standard in most drafts.

Sportsnet has Bischel at 24, Button has him at 55.

He is at 24 in my rankings right now. That's him reaching a middle between his floor and ceiling.

Comparable could be all the Swedes from the 2011 draft. Larsson, Klefbom, Brodin. All turned into pretty good defenders. On the better end of #3 Defenders I'd say. Certainly worthy of top 20 picks in most drafts.

Also does not look like Canucks will sign Kamloops D Viktor Persson for Abby next year.
