While I agree with your analysis about the development of draft choices. I am hopeful and expecting that the dmen prospects currently bespoke in hockeybuzz shall start to impact next season. I imagine they would become axteam strength Retaining Murphy until next trade deadline probably does help.with dmen development. McCabe needs to show better. He might

Brnging Richardson aboard is a good move; he will be a good instructor for dmen and sounds like a good choice

The D stable is where I have optimism, too. The system and coaching on the back end has been atrocious for a while. I think moving Murphy during the season as the kids show they can take those minutes would be great. IMO McCabe and Stillman have a place here for the duration of their contracts.
Up front the prospects didn't show well enough last season to generate much optimism which contributes to my belief that a handful of the forward assets should be kept for now. Any deal would have to be as lopsided in our favor as the Hagel trade was.

Me too. He coached Montreal well in the playoffs last year when Julien was out. He's paid his dues too.

So Huska Nor the new coach and the Kraken want to give up #4 and more for DeBrincat.
How quickly the rumor mill re-tools itself.

I will play.

For the cat,
I will agree to take the Seattle 2022 First Rd. 4th overall, a player from 2021 3rd rounder Hamilton's Ryan Winterton Right forward, who has really taken a jump in his development, and two seconds the 2022 Nashville 2nd rounder, and 49th overall, and (if you can't squeeze the Kraken for their 2022 #36 overall) and Seattle's own 2023 second.

Not too much to ask and I would eat Alexander Wennberg's contract if they want.

And with that #4 overall, I am not taking a defenseman.

I am betting that if they get the pick, they are taking a centre.

Not enough blue chip prospects coming back in the trade. Imo too many unknowns. As far as centers Cooley saveio nazar lambert would be next best centers besides Wright. If they would take a d man nemec should be the choice imo. Could see strome or kubalik being traded to Seattle also.

The Hawks are in the driver’s seat. They don’t have to move ADB. If KD is unable to get Fort Knox and more, he doesn’t have to make the trade.

Exactly that us the point to all of this. What team is desperate enough to give up a massive haul to get him. If the trade demands are nit meant then no deal then sign dcat build around him as the next captain. For example jersey 2nd overall pick ty Smith Holtz yegor or wood and 2023 1st or 2024 1st. That imo is the asking price for DeBrincat, the team acquiring him is getting an elite 40 to 50 goal scorer good 2way game a player that can generate his own shot with playmaking abilities and is 24 going into his prime.

Canucks have hired Dylan Crawford away from the Hawks to be their new head video coach (he was only an assistant video coach in Chicago).

Vancouver also hired Dale Tallon as a senior advisor and pro scout.

I don't have a lot of confidence in their pool of prospects based on guys they have labeled as untouchable or drafted in certain slots.

Their internal scouting has been atrocious (historically) and how they have drafted on the blue line has been not good.

My assumption is they will be starting from square one but that could be incorrect as well.

For discussion purposes only. I have read that the ranger only expect a 3rd round pick for Georgiev (sp.). Is that too expensive for the hawks, given he is only 26, would allow time for our 3 prospects to mature and is expected to cost less than 2.5m in salary.

Theo I really like the way you lay out your reasoning in a balanced way. I copied a section and reprinted over on the Sens thread where they are having the opposite debate of trading draft picks (#7 pick overall) for established players.

I have proposed that the Sens should offer the #7 pick plus a 2nd and 3rd (all from this year) plus Matt Murray and Colin White for Seth Jones. Sens fans think the offer is way too much.

More of a quantity game. You want lots of picks over the next 3 drafts. The more they choose the more likely it is they get good players strictly from a numbers game. From a rebuilding perspective - getting 4 or 5 assets to get the assets at this stage is not the worst.

Something like 2004 where you have a crap load of picks and end up with Barker, Bolland, Bickell and Brouwer. Out of the 4 second round pick 2 were hits (though unfortunately injury and illness cut those careers short) and you won a prize with Brouwer late.

Or 2003 where you got Crow, Buff and Seabrook. Very good considering the limited number of picks.

A draft like 2005 where you piss them all away would not be helpful. 2006-2009 were atrocious except for Toews and Kane and even 2010 wasn't great aside from Hayes.

He wouldn’t be my first or second choice, but I wouldn’t be upset if KD made that move. I’m not convinced he’s any better than Lankinen.

DUH! He’s the prospect of another team, so obviously he’s better than any prospect the Hawks have.
