Question to debate.
Are Lindblom and Laughton both on this team to start the season? Both make 3million. Lindblom has one year until RFA. Laughton has 4 years until UFA. - J35Bacher
My gut says Lindblom no, Laughton yes. |

The excitement about Debrincat is very real. I would just look up highlights of the player himself. His goals aren’t all tap-ins simply because Kane put a puck perfectly on his stick. Debrincat is fast and is more than capable of creating his own opportunities, including breakaways. His production could possibly go down without Patrick Kane but these pucks aren’t rolling passed the goal line because they deflected off Debrincat. He looks like a really good young player. - SuperSchennBros
No doubt but he will probably get a contract paying him like he’s going to be a 40 goal guy where on this team he’s probably in the low 30s. IMO the price to get him and contract is just too much. |

One will be captain and the other will be both assistant captains. |

No doubt. We’re a bad team but in my opinion it’s never too soon to add a 24 year old 40 goal scorer if we can do so. That’s a titanic “if” though. |

I would not be opposed to moving on from both. - WhiskeyMan
Im not opposed to moving any of them. After the last 2 years nothing should be off the table. We also need captain material here, cant wait 3 years for Desnoyer

And the $10M to sign an extension. IF you get him pretty much have to move couts or hayes. Just too much money tied to not equivalent production from them.

I really like both players but both should be moved to create roster and cap space.

the question is what it will cost to move hayes to make that work.

Sens blog:
The Sens have talked to the Philadelphia Flyers going back to the trade deadline about possibly acquiring Travis Konecny. He has three years left at a 5.5 million AAV. Add to the fact that Konecny is a similar player to that of Max Domi, many in NHL circles feel he won't thrive under new head coach John Tortorella. If you recall, Domi had many issues with Tortorella during his days in Columbus, plus the Flyers want to clear cap space in the worst way to try to shape the roster that will suit Tortorella best. |

My heart broke when Dallas picked Nichushkin at #10 one pick before the Flyers picked Morin at #11.
Over the first few years I changed my tune feeling like we dodged a bullet (only to get hit by another with Morins injury woes). But Nich has turned into a solid player. |

Lot of people here got carried away with the Lindros comparisons pre-draft.

Nothing. Domi has proven he’s an absolute idiot his entire career. |

I think he has a lot in common with Boeser and Atkinson over the last five seasons.
Boeser: 315 GP, 117 G, 134 A, 251 P
Konecny: 358 GP, 99 G 144 A, 243 P
Atkinson: 318 GP, 115 G, 110 A, 225 P
Domi: 361 GP, 74 G, 150 A, 224 P |

Same, i thought they wouldve went with Errson and Ustimenko - bradster
Ersson only played 5 games due to injury. They can't rely on just him and Ustimenko, who played 8 AHL games and 19 ECHL games.

Yes they did. They saw the size and the skill package and made a lazy comparison. Say what you want about some of the Flyers drafting, but they really poop the bed in that draft with that 1st pick considering who was still on the board.

Konency isn’t a player you move to create cap space. He’s a player you move if the deal is right and get something of real value in return. Players like JvR, Hayes, Atkinson or Laughton are players you move for cap space. |

This is chuckles -- he gives away players and assets for cap space cause a coach that he had to fire 22 games into a season didn't like him |

Myrtetus did a damn good job in that interview, getting Torts in his groove right away and coaxing a lot of candor out of him.
-Tomahawk
This was the exact interview I referred to in the previous forum, and why I said I felt better about Torts as the coach here. Of course I was attacked for that view point by the usual folks. |

I'd be very leery of Nichuskin...he's going to come with atleast a 5.5-6 million price tag after putting up +50 points on a stacked Colorado team. Unless you have that same kind of talent to surround him with, I'm not throwing that kind of money and term at him based off a single season. There's no question that he has the skill, but he won't get the same kind of match-ups or support on this team. - Flyerfan2868
Agreed, I think Bill's point was not about trying to sign Nichuskin which the Flyers do not have the cap space to do, but the importance of remaining patient with the younger players because each player matures differently. |

At the time the Flyers were drafting based on need versus selecting the best player available, and that was a mistake. When it comes to 1st round picks, I always believe you pick the best player available unless you rank two or more players the same, and you draft for organizational need in the later rounds. |
