There is a bigger issue that could loom of the NHL and the Islanders. That is the affect of the Russian war and sanctions. There are questions if the Russian players will be allowed to come back and play.

This could have a major impact on the NHL and the Islanders in particular. It could leave us with no goalies. This would leave Lou having to rethink draft and free agency with possibly switching priorities to acquiring a goaltender as the number one priority.

I am sure we will hear more leading up to the draft and free agency.

Putin prevent Ovechkin from chasing Gretzky’s record?

Well that’d be hilarious.

Barry Trotz tells @JShannonhl and @FadooBobcat that he would have been ready to be back for the #Isles if the coaching change wasn’t made.

“I was actually hoping to start. I felt I had a chip on my shoulder. It was such a bizarre year. I felt we had something to prove.”

No this isn’t true. Trotz is lying. Lameriello fired him for his own good and did him a favor. The owners wanted to give him four million dollars as a parting gift because they’re real nice guys. This is EXACTLY what happened.

Lou has a history of making pre-draft moves. What does you think the percentage of a move happening before the draft is? Do think if a move is made is for a defenseman or forward?

If he does make a move I believe it will be for a defenseman. Between the age of 23 and 27 to fit the core. The reason is that there are more options at the forward level.

So now trotz only wanted to coach for the islanders and was looking forward to proving doubters wrong this season but lameriello fired him because trotz secretly wanted to be fired so he could be close to his family. Ledecky and malkin were so on board with this that they made sure lameriello fired him so he didn’t have to quit. Why did they do this? Well they did that so they could pay him an extra four million dollars of course. Duh. Oh I see. That makes total sense. Yeah I can see why someone would believe that. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED.

Does he talk about why he wouldn't sign an extension when offered one from Lou? No...oh ok. so He will just leave that part out of the conversation. He would have been a Lame duck coach and Lou said let's move on then....

Why wouldn't he sign an extension.. b/c His mother just passed, his wife was sick this year, he has a special needs child and he just wasn't' sure he wanted to keep coaching after this year..... so yes.. Lou moved on.

He has since turned down at least 2 offers for a Lot more money.. $7 mill from PHilly... but yes Capt is right...

no u are right.. Lou never offered him an extension. Staple lied... I mean the owners would much rather have a lame duck coach and lose the really good assistant coach to another team and then have no one next year... u are 100% right.. as always.

You know what? I’m going to go ahead and believe you and Arthur Staple instead of the man himself. Arthur staple speculating is almost always right. I mean Lou better call out trotz for lying especially Ledecky and malkin they were nice enough to throw four million dollars at the guy because they like him. Unbelievable.

This reminds me of when I talked about Zuccarello's injury being much worse than it was being reported that he was really struggling even talking and u all called me an dope...

or when I said that Cap actually rented an Apt. in Snow's basement and u all told me that was absurd...

you laughed at me for days on that... until of course it was reported by Boomer and Carton. ..then Crickets.

This will be the same...

Frequently Wrong... never in doubt.

where in this interview does Trotz say anything about being offered an extension? He wanted to only coach the Islanders one more year. If they allowed that they lose Lambert to another team. if he wasn't going to commit long term... u move on from him to someone that is committed long term. .. period.

The guy literally said he was looking forward to coaching the islanders next year. That’s all you need to hear. All of this other stuff you’re mentioning is just noise. He wanted to come back and lameriello fired him. It wasn’t some conspiracy to give trotz a parting four million dollar gift

Edit; I’ll also add that I did say there were other factors in Lameriello’s decision. There always is. It’s almost never one particular thing. I didn’t deny that I said the same thing. You’re just hung up on this Ledecky and malkin didn’t want him to quit so he lost the last year on his contract BS. I noticed how you left that out of this post. That is just absolute horse crap. Trotz wanted to coach the team next year. That’s exactly what he said. Staple and you speculating and coming up with your own reasons doesn’t change that. Lameriello fired him. That’s all you need to know.

Lambert should be the right coach for the teams youth, this team is still competitive.

Yep. Time to move on from this because really none of us know or will ever know. That’s the only thing factual about this entire debate.
