A bit steep. I figured 6.5.

Well after the state Tax of over 10% and the local tax another 5% in LA it's kinda like he took $6.5.

Well they just defunded West Hollywood’s police force even though crime is up 137% in the area so maybe he’ll save some tax money after all.

He certainly stepped up his game when it counted.
How long do you think he needs in the AHL before taking the next jump? His size should help him.

I'd assume at least a season. I don't know what to make of the kid, honestly.

He had an absolutely phenomenal season and did nothing but impress. But he's also 20 and 6'3" so he certainly has a physical/age advantage over a significant portion of the league. But he's got a hell of a shot.

I'm genuinely excited to see what he can do in Bridgeport, but I'm going to conservatively guess that he needs at least two years before he has a shot at really being a full-time NHL'er. He seems pretty raw still.

My guess is he tops out as a middle-six winger if he eventually sticks in the NHL. Either a good 3rd liner or an average 2nd liner. Watching last night (one game means (frank)-all in the grand scheme of things, but I don't get to watch much QMJHL hockey) he didn't strike me as a particularly physically-imposing player despite his size. That's an area of his game that working on would very much benefit him in future.

Hearing TOR has notified teams the rights to Ilya Mikheyev are available if a team wishes to "jumpstart the process."

This would be a very good addition if we could get his UFA rights early and get him signed cheap-ish

Yeah, I agree with all of your thoughts on the kid from the little I have seen of him. I did have a question about his skating ability as Vukota mentioned in his post. Again haven’t seen enough of him to make a fair judgement but skating obviously is key.
What’s your view on his skating, if in fact you have one?

Edit: I did a little research and found this on his draft profile. Don’t know if it hold true or not.

Skating

Dufour’s skating is a bit hit and miss. There are some very good aspects including his first step, his speed and his acceleration. He has no problem keeping up with the play or getting in quickly on the forecheck. Dufour also has a powerful stride, he can fight through checks and keep going towards the net. He is strong on the puck and wins battles in the corners and in front of the net. However, Dufour can use work on his edgework and agility. He loses speed on his turns and lacks a bit of lateral agility. Dufour is more willing to go through a defender than around one but could stand to improve this aspect of his game.

I assume it could be better, like most bigger players, but like I said before...I really never got the chance to see him play other than the odd highlight here and there. So I guess I don't really have one.

Doesn’t cost anything hopefully the consistent, elite, teachings, of Thompson get him ready for the NHL game.

I'm a glass half full guy... but he is a really big strong kid who has great hands. He seems to improve every year. Let's hope he turns out to be an absolute stud. Sounds like once he grew into his frame and started to focus on training he became a completely different player.

Told the #isles didn’t submit an offer for Fiala.

- PeteM

Didn't submit an offer because they don't want anyone. I said it before, and God I hope I'm wrong, but I just have a bad feeling that this team will look exactly the same as last season. Except for maybe a couple minor moves to fill in a spot or 2. I just get he feeling we won't see a big trade or a big free agent signing.

Probably didn't submit an offer because the biggest priority is getting a defenseman and, given what Fiala was ultimately traded for, it would have cost them their 1st round pick and a very good prospect to get him. Trade those assets for Fiala and you've got nothing left over to acquire a defenseman with.

The forwards can be addressed through free agency, the defense can't. I'd rather pay Forsberg ~$9M/year than give up a 1st and a good prospect AND pay Fiala ~$8M

This team never does anything. This old useless tool shed will bring back virtually the same team minus a top 6 forward and defenseman for the 5th straight summer. It’s a comedy act

Free agency doesn't start for another two weeks and you're already calling the offseason a loss
