Hughes was pretty clear about that, no way they will give picks away to dump contracts
- fidopro

Thank goodness. He's under contract. Play your ass off and we'll try to find fair value. So far Hughes has operated professionally and I'm willing to trust that to continue. The Weber deal was massive. A clear win in my books. Keep on keeping on. Bring on the draft!!

Petry is where it hurts the most cap-wise, but yeah lol. sometimes I almost forget Savard is even there
- Pat1993

petry was useful up til last season but savard has been useless for a few seasons.

i was kinda surprised when i saw they only had 5.5M in cap space. until price goes on LTIR anyway.

Hughes needs to move some contracts. especially since most of the bad ones have multiple years left.

yeah well on a third pairing he can be okay-ish but for a bigger guy he's not overly physical, would be nice if he threw his weight around a bit more since he isn't producing anything offensively.

To think Caufield could have won the Calder.

Thanks Ducharme.

Honestly, it's like he was liberated when St-Louis arrived.

Still managed to end up 6th in points and 2nd in goals among rookies after doing (frank) all for 3 months

That’s the guy that was to replace Weber.

Pretty cheap in that context..

I don't think it was presented that way, but that he had some of Weber's qualities... lol

Please explain..

you seriiously think they would develop better playing with Nylander than playing with Armia?
I don't.
they need icetime, and a grinder to retrieve the puck, work the corners, be in front of the net... Anderson can do that. Armia too btw.

- fidopro

First of all… I didn’t even mention Army! HIs cap hit I can live with! 😀
Second, Nylander has more points than Anderson and Armia, combined. So yes, I think Suzuki and Caufield would be better off playing with him. But that being said, you could still play Army anywhere in your lineup. If that means Nylander or Caufield end up on the second line… so be it. A second line that could be centred by Wright or Cooley.
Third, by the time the Habs are serious contenders, Anderson (28) will be about 33! Nylander is 2 years younger and we’d get him in his prime. But you could still flip Nylander next year to a contender for an insane return.
BTW… Leafs are a couple of pieces away from having a real chance to win it all and we aren’t! Let’s give to them but at a cost. That cost is Petry’s contract. A third team would probably be needed to take money or a contract to make it work.
Just my 2 cents… but all dependant on Petry.

If I may, Army plays more like the Boy Scouts on a nightly level, national guard at best.

Carry on..

Oh nothing.

It was just a reference.

They sold Christmas decorations?

I don’t think they did that here..
