Chicago trading DeBrincat doesn't make any sense anyway because they are trading away a player that they need to get back in the deal.

The approach to selecting a new head coach appeared to be from many accounts a lot better this time around—getting Torts. A vetting company, Flahr and Briere involved in the interviewing, multiple candidates, rounds of interviews, time to evaluate candidates…lots of things that certainly didn’t show with the AV hire. I think Torts is a very good coach. One telling feature is that I can’t stand him when I am rooting for the opposing team. That’s a good thing, a compliment. It means I believe he is contributing to the team’s success with his lines and adjustments. In general, I like and don’t mind fiery people. I may *cough* know some. They care. If they listen, they learn from their mistakes, and get better with age.
Good luck to Fletcher and company with the rest of the changes! I hear a lot of folks say they don’t like Torts because they think defense will be boring. I don’t think it has to be. The forecheck is very aggressive. What interests me the most is the assistant coaches. I think that the defense coach needs to be a modern defenseman type. No idea on the PP, but whoever, better be amazing. - NC Flyers Fan

AV's supposed to be as well? Flyers do not have the horses. They have mish mash of players. It will take him a year just to sort that out!!!
Plus how many people expect this group to buy in right away?

It is a case imo of seeing if some team will just flat out overpay and give you an unreal deal. They likely do not want to move him

I'm calling it now, real easy. The first ones in Torts doghouse:
Forward: TK
Defense: Provorov - Glak18
Well as a HC he is not exactly bad but still I don't respect any person in a management position unable to control his temper and keeping his composure in any given situation.
And Torts can hop off the rails rather easy
But I agree I already feel sorry for TK but not so sure about Provorov
Also 4 years contract if true is madness

I think he ultimately helps Provorov get his game back
I believe TK could possibly be the first trade this off seasn

I don't know, I think TK is the kind of player that might thrive under Torts. |

I do not for the life of me get why people think Provorov will be in Torts doghouse. |

Yeah.
If they are rebuilding the first 2 I would move are Kane and Toews. Kane will still bring a big return and those are two contracts that would clear cap space.

I actually think Torts is a very good coach, however the reason I don't like him and didn't want the Flyers to hire him is because of all the baggage that comes with him. Torts IMO in the past has put himself ahead of his team, with the battles with the media and the public criticism of players. I didn't like it when AV called out Hart unfairly during the 2020-2021 season and I believe that is when the team turned on him. I have no confidence Torts can keep his big mouth shut any better, and we have already seen how this group of players responds to that type of public criticism. |

What Flyers beat reporter is going to play the role of Larry Brooks? Need that for entertainment value with all the losing.
I fear it will just be one softball lobbed after another to Tortorella. |

The fact they are expecting "immediate success" out of this roster and this coach really shows how deep in denial the Flyers brass are about the state of the team. |

You don't know what the roster is. The draft and free agency are upcoming. Fletch going to knock it out of the park. |

"We are extremely excited to have Alain join this franchise and lead our team behind the bench for many years to come," said Fletcher. "He brings a tremendous amount of success over an extended period of time that will prove valuable to our team to take the next steps in returning the winning culture to the Philadelphia Flyers organization."

"I am very happy to bring in John to be the next head coach and voice behind the bench of the Flyers," said Fletcher. "John demands the best out of his players every single game. He is a Stanley Cup Champion and has a lengthy track record of both regular season and playoff success. During the interview process we discussed a number of factors that are crucial to bring this team immediate success and it became clear to me that his vision and style makes him the right person to restore a winning environment to our locker room."

Not sure what you mean here. Debrincat will be traded. It is only a question of when. As for TK, yea he isnt really a fit given debrincat is younger and better player. Its gonna be prospect and pick. I would probably avoid such deal. The flyers cant afford to part with prospects or a 1st

I don't like it! John Tortorella has a short shelf life, in terms of coaching, as players get tired of him after a few seasons. I don't think this is going to help this group and it wreaks of desperately trying to win with a roster that IMO isn't capable of competing for Lord Stanley's Cup.
They should, IMO, be hitting the reset button and trying to build something sustainable instead of just throwing poop against the wall to see what sticks. |

AV buy-in wasn’t great, at best short-lived. No need to guess, we get to watch and see now with Torts. My opinion is that buy-in will be much better. Whether that will be good enough remains to be seen, and much depends on young players and those about to be drafted. |

I'm surprised and disappointed that some of you geniuses didn't throw your hat in the ring for the coaching job. I know you didn't because if you had, you'd surely be the one being announced as the next coach. |

Anytime there is a new coach with the reputation of Torts, the players will buy into the process or they won't be here. During AVs first season we witnessed a big turn around from the season prior and I think the same thing will happen next season, not just because the Flyers have a new coach, but also because the players will be healthier. As far as having the horses, we really don't know what the roster will look like next season. Who will the Flyers draft with the number 5 pick, or who will they trade that pick for? Who from the young crop of players will stand out and be a significant impact to the team next year?
While Torts was a NHL analyst, he mentioned he thought the biggest problem the Flyers had was a serious lack of foot speed. Fletcher has stated multiple times the need for the Flyers to accumulate more top end talent, get younger and faster. So I would imagine this will be the focus this off season, to get a younger quicker roster of players for Torts to mold to play the right way. |

Dave Scott and Comcast are ruining this once great franchise. It's a pretty sad time to be a Flyers fan. I'm not turning my card in though. |

Per Charlie O’Connor’s latest article, “Basically, the goal for next season is to be back in the playoff hunt — not necessarily make it (though that would be the hope), but to at least be in the mix. Then, the Flyers believe, they can continue to chip away at the situation from there. Make trades, draft well, bring up prospects and slowly but surely construct a contender.”
Comical. They are oblivious to getting one of the potential franchise players in the 2023 draft.
