I like the trade, it was needed cap wise and the opportunity was there. I think Habs feel Price won’t play. Who’s next on the trade block? They need to trade Jeff Petry! - andrest
Other than Petry, who is a maybe, I don't expect much.
We knew Weber came close to move at the TDL, so that was not a huge surprise, other than maybe the return.
Maybe it will be easier to move Petry once Letang and others d have signed.
I said maybe a few times there...

I think Petry will be next and maybe Armia i think Hoffman and Drouin are harder sell right now… - Karine Hains
I'd give Drouin another shot personally. I still believe he can contribute.

He gets calls on Anderson, but it would take something big to move him.
Most of the guys who he would like to move, are a hard sell.

that's why they are paid the big $$$, time to move difficult contracts is summertime where teams are not pinned against the cap

He barely played in 2 years. Pretty sure the hope is that he does play this season and they can move him at TDL.
One year left.

he is a prime candidate for TDL move, agreed. Dadonov could be moved this summer, UFA next summer, 5M cap hit, 6.5M salary, Habs could eat a % of his salary and move him this summer. Hoffman is a different situation because of the terms left on his deal

LOL. Still can't believe they did not check his no trade list the first time around. Or that mtl is not on it for what matters.

Maybe he's buddy with Markov and he was told Mtl is a great city. I mean, he signed in Ottawa so his criterias are probably weird.

I think it's a fine move.
We turned Weber, which was a negative asset, into something with actual value that we can trade at the deadline.
Sure the cap issues are still there but it's nothing that cannot be managed by the time the season begins.
And hey, Dadonov isn't completely useless either. Scored 20 goals last season. Vegas dumped us Tatar and he turned out pretty good for us.

We might as well wrap this up.
