Let's compare Stanley Cup rings:

Keenan 1
Quinn 0
Tortorella 1

Wanna compare respective roster quality, too?

Sorry, until they can figure out how to construct a roster no coach is taking this team anywhere. Torts is a fine choice but the Flyers are years from Competing

Do whatever you want Bill. You made the comparison not me.

BTW in the 15 years since he won that cup he advanced to the second playoff round only 3 times with a win % of .431
Flyers teams advanced 6 times over the same period.

I don’t understand why you can’t admit his playoff record since he won that cup with 4 different teams in just not any good. What’s the problem with saying that?

Gotta start somewhere. A coach is a good starting point. Now let’s see this “aggressive retool”. Is CFs big faith in York and indication that Provy or Sanheim are on their out?

Maybe 1 but not both. If they can get value for Provov I can see that.

Torts was sitting around this past season, if the Flyers really wanted him they could have hired him the same time they fired AV. If Torts was really your top target, why wait so long and go through the charade of interviewing all these candidates? bottom line for me is Fletcher had two great coaches gift-wrapped to him and he has completely dropped the ball on both, and is left now with someone he really doesn't want but at the same time cannot afford to also lose in order to preserve the image that the Flyers always get the high profile coach.

They werent gift wrapped . As far as Cassidy ask yourself would you rather coach Vegas or the Flyers...as far as Trotz goes he was never coming here said it all along. What is enticing to a guy like Trotz about the Flyers?

His flip flop on Fletcher is also absurd, he’s the guys biggest critic now

Would be hilarious if Torts declines. Haven’t seen anything concrete

They got the guy who had name recognition that no one else wanted. At least he will add a little spice to this boring product. Fact is this team will be 20 points better then last year with any coach. Impossible to duplicate last year

What is good value for Provorov? Putting a lot of faith in Ellis staying healthy for 60+ games to lock down a top 4 spot. Would the top 4 be Sanheim, Ellis, Risto, and York without Provorov?

If it does, it means that Fletcher is a bigger clown than I already think he is.

Travis Sanheim did not have a single point on the PP all of last year . 54 minutes of PP ice time.

$7 mm per is pretty enticing. Isn't the right question what would make you turn down $7 mm per?

I can't imagine they would go public without certainty about him committing. On the other hand, we own the unimaginable lately, or so it seems.

Some moves I would like to see happen:
- trade for Kapanen
- trade for Armia (Laughton?)
- trade TK for dman or 1st round + prospect
- sign Copp as UFA
- move JVR even with 50% retainage
- trade for Simmonds - mid / late pick with adder
- resign G is team friendly deal is there

- Bayareaflyer

I dont see most of the above happening.

Kapanen is a 3rd line player at best. Flyers already have 5 potential players in that role. Frost, Tippett, Cates, Laughton and Brink

Armia? Not sure why they would add him.

TK for a prospect and 1st wont happen. Flyers are aggressively retooling, I cant see TK being moved for anything less than another Roster player + pick

Sign Copp: See Point #1

Move JVR at 50%: Thats pretty much a given, if not now, it will be done by the deadline

Simmonds adds nothing to the team. He is likely done as an NHL player

The door for Giroux to return was closed. From what I heard Fletcher told Giroux so much during the trade negotiations.

I mean no one would would have a point on the PP given how poorly the PP was. Sanheim and even Ristolainen did not get any PP time until late in the season where the PP lines were Hayes, Farabee, Brink, TK and Sanheim/Ristolainen

Flyers PP had a whopping 30 PPG out of 239 attempts in 2021-22. Giroux alone had 12 while with the team. So you can be sure most the goals likely happened with him on the team

Is there really a portion of this fanbase upset about this team hiring a good (or great) coach because we want to tank? I would not want to be any part of an organization that tanks to draft high, that does not grant you success in the future (see Edmonton, Buffalo) I am personally thrilled if Torts is here and I hated him with a passion in 04 with him and Hitch fighting it out through the Media. It was entertaining and the Flyers fan in me hated him, thrilled now to have someone who, without a doubt is a good if not GREAT coach. A coach is not going to win a game or a playoff series but a good coach can not hurt. Accountability has been missing for awhile.

You think a player with a career high of 44 points followed up with 36 points the next at age 25 has seen his best years? I’ve seen a lot of Kapanen in Toronto, he’s as good if not better than most of what we already have.
