first practice at training camp, the players should line up behind each net and practice their Michigan move....just to see how he will react.

Might as well have the up and coming kids learn the professional way of doing things. It can’t be healthy development for these kids to watch the veterans mail it in. That won’t happen with Torts. Not saying that the team of veterans are lazy by any stretch, but a losing mentality breeds a losing attitude. Let the leadership rise, let the kids learn the right way, and perhaps CF will surprise us with a few good moves.

What kids do you think will be in the everyday lineup? They are not going to go "kid" heavy at all imo.

Well if a losing mentality exist, I think it does, then you ship them out while they still have value.

At least this increases the chances Zac is re-signed.

What is being overlooked is seems Trotz didn't want the job.

I agree with shipping the bad apples out at maximum value. And I’m hoping Frost, Cates, Tippet and York are regulars with good minutes.

Hartnell eluded that looking back he wished he had had Torts as a coach when he was a young player... And he had Trotz as a coach back than.
Hartnell spoke very highly about both of them. I know, it's only one player's opinion, but Scott had played under both bench bosses, so his opinion bears some weight.

Tortorella will do well here.

He demands responsible two way play. Something the Flyers desperately need.
He's also not afraid to sit somebody. Also what the Flyers need.

I like it.

- Nh_kong

I like it too, couldve used him when jake and G were still here. But if he can the players more responsible, i am all for it. That is one of our biggest issues.

A lot of players say Torts was the best coach they ever had.

I don’t think anyone is questioning him as a coach, nor should they be. The timing is just wrong.

Ask yourself why does he want to coach this team?

If Torts had his choice he'd probably choose a organization where he'd inherit a smaller load of rubbish....but I'd guess unlike Cassidy or Trotz his choices were Philly or nothing.

Not meaningless. Just an odd choice when you look at the roster and players in the organization.

Just shows you how delusional they all are at this time.

I would say any coach would want that to win as soon as possible and some prefer to build something filled with crap then win because it makes them look that much better.

Ultimately, the Flyers' 2022 offseason will be determined not only by the coaching hire and whether Tortorella can instill discipline and accountability but also by the roster adjustments that Chuck Fletcher makes.
- bmeltzer

Tortorella is a very good coach. Imho the bold is the more important element.

Tortorella is fine. He will hold players accountable, it won’t be boring with him. He comes with a shelf life but most coaches do.

The lack of talent, and the incompetent GM is way more of an issue than the coach.

- PLindbergh31

His shelf life is far above average.

SanFilippo has a very interesting article on the Torts hire. He speculates the involvement of Fletcher in the hiring process.

I dont think its the wrong timing. Torts isnt magically going to make this team good again. People seem to think he will make them a middle of the pack team. I could see it but I dont think it will happen. As of right now the team just doesnt have the talent and it is going to take time for the players to learn Torts system and play the way Torts wants. That will take a few months more if Torts is trying to change player's habits.

There are still a ton of question marks as well. Will Ellis be healthy, How is Couturier's back, what will Fletcher do in the offseason. As of right now we are worse than last season as we are short Giroux who was one of our top players. Torts will make us better defensively and help Hart but at the end of the day, he cant make the team more talented, he wont be able to fix the PP without that talent. We will see improvement defensively but the team still wont be good enough to win those close games.
