So who else is with me in moving Carter Hart?
- Bayareaflyer

It depends who are you moving him for? Moving Hart creates a gaping hole in the Flyers net. What hole will the Flyers be filling and is it worth it to fill one hole with material from another hole? Seems like the end result you are back where you started, with a hole to fill.

TFP has learned from several people close to the situation that the Flyers’ coaching search was in fact led by Fletcher, Executive Vice President and Assistant GM Brent Flahr, and Special Assistant to the GM Danny Briere.

Senior Advisors Paul Holmgren and Bob Clarke were “sound boards” but not in the middle of the process.

It is becoming more common for sports organizations to consulting firms to assist in their search for executives and coaches. The consulting firm was utilized as a resource for Fletcher as opposed to an oversight, helping with vetting, research, references, providing information and screening available candidates – completely working under Fletcher’s direction. One source told me the firm had “nothing to do with the interviews or hiring” process.

Addressing speculation about Fletcher and Hockey Ops not being in favour of Tortorella, I was told that is simply not the case. One source related to Hockey ops said, “I can promise you he’s our No.1 choice.”

This sounds a hell of a lot more plausible then the report on here yesterday. It’s sad but with all the strange things this organization seems to be doing it really couldn’t be just be cast aside as BS.

It's smart and due diligence to use a firm that specializes in candidate vetting. Make sure there's no skeletons in the closet so to speak. The more information the better. Some would call it lazy though.

Chicago also looking to move Jones.

If the there was a deal in place would you take Jones and his long term 9 mill contract if it meant getting rid off Ellis' contract?

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Guessing the Flyers might be on his no-move list.

Signed Fiala

Guerin wants a center for Fiala. My guess is he’s looking at NJ with 3 good young centers. Nico looks like the one they may be willing to give up. Most likely the Wild will stop gap the goalie situation for the next 2-3 years when Wallstedt could be ready.

Almost a year later I still chuckle about the people who defended the Ristolainen trade because Buffalo had a revolving door of coaches. When Risto plays his 67th game for the Flyers he will already be on his 3rd head coach here. He's already played nine straight seasons where his team struggles defensively and misses the playoffs, and last season was actually his worst in points per game scoring since his rookie year.

That makes no sense. Trading their captain for a free agent?

I think it does make sense. Most people think they’ll take Slavkovsky. But what if they take Cooley. Now they have 4 centers. Nico makes over $7 mil and Mercer is 3 years younger and doesn’t even make a mil. Not many teams can fit Nico in cap wise. There is a much bigger demand for Mercer.

You’re basing this off of a what if on draft day? I’d rather have Nico than Fiala, guys a diva. Jersey has talented offensive guys, Nico is a really good two way forward. Don’t see it happening.

Depends on what he wants. His contract will be hard to move. If he doesnt want to stay for a CHI rebuild. Philly could be one of few options
