The trade would consist of cap moving the other way or in separate deals. Obviously, the Flyers would most likely be dangling the 5th overall.

Waiting on your response to my post responding to you calling me "sherlock"

- MJL

Your reply made no sense and as typical, you were just reaching for any straw you could to try to present a counter argument. However, since you are slow to understand I'll make it crystal clear for you. Two great coaches that no one thought would become available were available to the Flyers and they whiffed on both of them! That to me constitutes a failure. So what did the Flyers do once both either turned them down or didn't even consider them? They went with Torts as their plan B. I call that lazy because Torts has always been there for them, even last season when they fired AV in December. I understand that the outside consulting firm had Torts top of their list, but the guy is a complete ass-clown that puts himself and his battles with the media ahead of the team! If you want to be a clown-show then hire a clown as a coach, and that is what their plan B was! If it were me and both Cassidy and Trotz turned me down, I would have preferred an outside the box candidate like Rikard Gronborg or my first choice Lane Lambert which of course Lou beat the Flyers to because that is what Lou always does, beats the Flyers!

Clear now?

Yes, read they were kicking the tires on a trade. However I don't see how the Flyers could pull this one off. First Debrincat is making $6.4M this coming season and then will be a UFA, and after coming off a 40+ goal season will demand an even larger financial commitment; the Flyers don't have the cap space. Second, the Flyers would have to part with quite a package to get him, consisting of picks, young players and a few veterans to make it work. Third, is Debrincat a game changer that is worth all this? I'd pass.
- jd250

I've always really liked Debrincat. I was on here singing his virtues leading up to the draft.

But hell (frank)ing no would I pay the trade cost to acquire him unless Patrick Kane comes along with him. We've seen how being away from Kane has affected Hagel. Kane has the primaries on a good share of Debrincat's goals.

In other words, name calling is only horrible when I do it? I’m sorry what was the point to you calling me out again?

Obviously a contender but how much does the team lose over the process of becoming a contender? You have to rebuild and suck and often times the 1st rebuild doesnt work.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

It depends on how a team sucks, i.e. do they suck and have no hope for the future or do they suck with young, up and coming players? I personally believe the Flyers arena would be full if they iced a team of young players with high ceilings that as a fan base we can watch grow up together, even if they were outside of the playoffs for a few seasons.

I'm not upset with the Torts hiring, but he's not going to help Frost at all, imo.
- rayc16

Oh .. but it will be so much fun to watch. I predict Frost will be a broken man by the all-star break. I personally don't like Frost's personality, as in his post-games where he comes across as a person that lacks confidence and was picked on his entire life. I think Torts chews up and spits out players like Frost.

Kane is normally the straw that stirs the drink on any line. Looking at Debrincat’s point totals, you can’t just give him away. Debrincat has possible superstar point totals under the age of 25.

You don't even realize it but you just made the argument for me. You called me sherlock claiming that it nothing to do with Trotz. Yet here you are admitting that it did have to do with Trotz. Embarrassing yourself even further. Stating that my response made no sense is just further adding to your stupidity.

So let's look further at your lazy characterization. There are reports out there that the Flyers offered the job for Trotz for 7M a year. Before reportedly deciding to go with Tortorella. So you have no legitimate claim there.

As far as Cassidy. It's pretty obvious that the Flyers weren't given an opportunity to speak with Cassidy for the Flyers coaching spot. Vegas zeroed in on him right away and he took that job. I don't believe that Cassidy interviewed with any other team to my knowledge.

The Flyers interviewed a bunch of candidates for their coaching spot over a significant period of time. Including talking to Trotz on 3 separate occasions by report.

Your reasoning for why you call it lazy is illogical and beyond any reasonable thought. You lacked the facts as reported. Not to mention that have no clue, again, what you stated just a day ago.

Just par for the course.

He must have a better offer somewhere. My guess is Trotz lands in Detroit and works with Yzerman, going back to his roots as a coach of a young and upcoming team.

Chicago also looking to move Jones.

If the there was a deal in place would you take Jones and his long term 9 mill contract if it meant getting rid off Ellis' contract?
