Hexy had some solid years…but after the Lindros trade wasn’t the same. - landros 2 Hexy was quite strange actually. We had season tickets in 1987 and saw those Finals games against the Oil. Hextall was unreal in that series. Gretzky said it was the best goaltending that he had ever seen. Hextall won the Conn Smythe in a losing effort. Unfortunately it was all downhill after that. |

I pin it on bad gameplanning. In simplest terms the Flyers plan was to dump it into Lidstroms corner and pound him into oblivion. Lidstroms plan was to go get the puck and get it up ice long before the Flyers got near him. - MBFlyerfan
The strategy that really did them in is Bowman decided that the best way to deal with the Flyers down low was to front them defensively, rather than battle for position. Keep the puck away from the net and the Flyers wouldn't be able to use their physical advantage around the net.

So you think another team is paying 7 million or more? Or do you think he is taking less as he likes that situation better?
IMO I do not see any other team giving him 7+ million. We shall see.
Are the flyers not an up and coming team? You rave about their young core. - hello it's me 2050
If its true they offered 7M and have no idea if it is he will take less to go elsewhere. Like I said from day 1 he isnt coming to the Flyers. There is absolutely not a thing appealing about this team or organization right now. |

As did I and some others. Goes to show you money cant always get what you want. Not appealing at all.
Do you think the flyers are embarrassed at all that Trotz turned that amount down? |

Just yesterday you were calling the Flyers lazy for not going after Trotz. - MJL
No, wrong again Sherlock. I said hiring Torts would be a lazy hire, nothing to do with Trotz. |

Didnt you say the flyers are the best available job out there? You also said if Chuck doesn't land him that is a big failure on his part. Do you still believe that?
Give the flyers credit lol. You are a flyers shill.
Why does it make sense, objectively speaking? - hello it's me 2050
Yes, I think when you have two coaches like Cassidy and Trotz available, its a failure if you don't land one of them. I said in the past and still believe the Flyers job is a great job for a coach. I already answered your final question, I can see a scenario where Trotz would want to work with Yzerman and an up and coming team like Detroit, who has a lot of top 10 picks on their roster. |

The style of goal tending really started to change in the mid 92, more larger, butterfly goalies starting to enter the game. Heck even Brodeur was considered a hybrid. Hextall's brand of goal tending couldn't survive. |

Recent history would tell you the Flyers job is clearly not a great job for a coach. Middling talent with no hope. |

The Flyers have a nice crop of younger players that have ceilings much higher than middling talent, and a top 5 pick in this draft. There is plenty of hope here. |

Trying to put a positive spin on Trotz telling the flyers to pound sand. Understood.

Yes, all downhill after that... Gee, I wonder how he managed to become the winningest goaltender in Flyers history going downhill all that time? |

You signed on to try and take a shot at me haha I own real estate in that small brain. You’re a regular here bud, don’t try and kid yourself. My point about Farabee is that every team in the division has at least two guys better than him, this is not a team of any potential. |

Farabee is def one.
Konecny could still get there. Next year or two will tell what we get with Konecny.
Frost has 2nd line Ceiling
Tippett 2nd line ceiling
Brink and Foerster would be other young players that have potential for a high ceiling.
They do have some, the struggle is getting them to their ceilings. There has to be something the Flyers are missing during development that is causing guys to fall short of their ceiling.

Your little mind actually believes I signed on to take a shot at you? There are multiple dummies arguing about multiple dumb things this morning.
If I wanted to take a shot at you, I’d take you back to last night’s argument that you couldn’t keep up in. By the way, what is Andrei Vasilevskiy record in his last four starts against Colorado? You find the answer to that and we can talk |

Look at every team in the division , the Flyers are well behind in potential. Most of their potential has already come through. |

Why do you continually embarrass yourself like this. In response to my asking you why it was a lazy hire, you responded with this post.
https://hockeybuzz.com/bo...p?thread_id=179307&page=7
"Torts was sitting around this past season, if the Flyers really wanted him they could have hired him the same time they fired AV. If Torts was really your top target, why wait so long and go through the charade of interviewing all these candidates? bottom line for me is Fletcher had two great coaches gift-wrapped to him and he has completely dropped the ball on both, and is left now with someone he really doesn't want but at the same time cannot afford to also lose in order to preserve the image that the Flyers always get the high profile coach."
Who are you referring to with the statement of "Fletcher had two great coaches gift-wrapped to him"?
After dealing with this, we can address that statement and how it is lacking in reality. |
