Apparently some did not learn their lesson from that Lindros trade. If the Flyers had lost the bidding to the Rangers, the Flyers would have been lifting the Cup at some point that decade. One player does not make a team. - jd250
That wasn't really my point.

corporate flyers have no star to build around or put asses in the seats. So that type of trade makes perfect business sense.

That's one way to go, but look at the two finalists this year, Colorado and Tampa, are they teams built around 1 player? I think its clear you need multiple top end players and depth to win in this league now. Butts in the seats come from teams that win. Having a great player on a bad team wears thin pretty quickly to a fan base. |

Always needed multiple players. That hasnt changed. It is up to management to build around your superstars. Clarke failed in that aspect. I make that trade every day and do not think twice about it.

Trotz turned down 7 million per. Any thoughts on that? - hello it's me 2050
He must have a better offer somewhere. My guess is Trotz lands in Detroit and works with Yzerman, going back to his roots as a coach of a young and upcoming team. |

So you think another team is paying 7 million or more? Or do you think he is taking less as he likes that situation better?
IMO I do not see any other team giving him 7+ million. We shall see.
Are the flyers not an up and coming team? You rave about their young core. |

I think at this stage in his career, Trotz cares more about the situation and would take less for being where he thinks is best for him and his family. If this is in deed true, I give the Flyers credit for throwing the kitchen sink at him, but objectively looking at the situation, it makes sense to me that Trotz lands in Detroit. |

Nets? Clarke did bring back Hextall, and I don't believe anyone is pinning the 4 game finals sweep at the hands of Detroit to bad goaltending. |

You also said if Chuck doesn't land him that is a big failure on his part. Do you still believe that?
Give the flyers credit lol. You are a flyers shill.
Why does it make sense, objectively speaking?

Gotta believe that they would have won a Cup if things went the other way. I mean, just Forsberg and the others would have most likely got it done, but it's hard to be critical cause when you have a chance at the big fish in the pond ya gotta go for it.

Just yesterday you were calling the Flyers lazy for not going after Trotz.

Hextall is one of the most overrated goalies ever. They had a glaring hole during the 88 years. That was never properly addressed. You disagree. All good.

Goaltending…lol. Clarke freely admits he made a mistake not paying Curtis Joseph and signing Beezer. After Garth Snow…I mean …c’mon man. It’s not that they failed to address it….they got it wrong multiple times. |

Still would have had goalie issues that Clarke still wouldn't have addressed. Can never understand his philospy on goalies when if not for #1 they likely dont win a couple cups.
Clarke had an open check book and never utilized it on a goalie and it cost him

I pin it on bad gameplanning. In simplest terms the Flyers plan was to dump it into Lidstroms corner and pound him into oblivion. Lidstroms plan was to go get the puck and get it up ice long before the Flyers got near him.
