Dallas Stars 2020. They were so good Jamie Benn managed 1 assist in the entire 2020 final and Tyler Seguin no goals but five assists. That’s the Stars I remember.

That 2020 Dallas team was a very good defensive(2nd fewest goals) unspectacular team that was built for the playoffs. Their strength of schedule was the toughest in the NHL. They had two 33 yr old goalies that played great during the regular season and Khudobin was outstanding in the POs. Dallas had balanced scoring all year. The team overcame adversity as that was the year Montgomery was replaced mid season and Bowness had to pick up the pieces.

They lost in six to TB. Benn was 3rd on the team in playoff scoring with 19 points in 27 games. Pavelski had a pedestrian regular season but was a beast in the POs. Two top scorers were D men. Dallas was kinda boring but they were tough to play against. Disparaging them as not a good team is indefensible.

The Dallas Stars’ stars did not show up. The proof is in the Pudding. If your best players don’t show up on the biggest stage in sports, that team isn’t going to win. Benn and Seguin did not, therefore Dallas did not win. Dallas laid down in Game 6 last year as you stated. The Colorado Avalanche’s stars already have shown up in one game and won. The Stars being the second best defensive team in the regular season that year means nothing to me. I’m talking about the two best teams going head to head in an even tug of war.

I’ll simplify. If Tampa was Superior to Dallas and Colorado either beats Tampa or takes Tampa to seven, wouldn’t this mean Colorado gave Tampa better competition? What if Tampa manages to only win 1 or 2 games in this series or an a Aves win? I believe this Aves team is the best team Tampa has faced in the final so far in three appearances. I don’t think it’s closes. Put 2020 Stars up against Avalanche 2022 and I think the Aves smoke them…and the Aves are missing Kadri.
