And how much is recession going to affect hockey related revenues? - LAHawk
with the way companies are sticking it up the consumer's ass? probably not as much as one would think. |

Was wondering if where the Kings play are going to change the arena name from Crypto.com to hopeyournotleftholdingthebag.com

Patience friend. Eventually, all that material sitting on boats and coming from China actually will hit the shelves and the consumer will have much better leverage... of course, then companies just start laying off people so I guess we're (frank)ed either way. |

Currently those making over $100,000 38% are living paycheck to paycheck, those making $50k to $100k 34%, and those making less than $50,000 52%. This is before at least another 2 BP rate hikes. I don t see many official team jersey’s flying off the shelves.

Funny. Seems that those making $50-100K are the most reasonable. Who knew? |

I thought that was interesting too. But I didn t see a breakdown by state or region. $100K in California, if you have a family with the price of housing and taxes, you almost need food stamps to get by.

I dislike basketball but Golden State just won its fourth title in eight seasons. This season I'm told they beat a better talented team by playing good defense. Defense. In the NBA. Not a popular or commonly displayed.
Now comparing the fete to the NHL
Tampa is trying to win its third consecutive Cup
The Blackhawks did their three peat with time off in-between titles. Complain all you want but we cannot fault Bowman for identifying and keeping intact the core in a salary cap era then re-tooling and winning three Cups
Nonetheless Golden State four titles in eight seasons is all the more remarkable |

Montreal has traded Weber to Vegas for Dadanov. - DarthKane
So much for weaponizing cap space. A 7th for Bishop and no sweetener to give Vegas almost $13 million in space ($5 mil for Dadanov and almost $8 mil for Weber who is on LTIR). You would think both trades warranted more compensation (although maybe Montreal sees value in Dadanov who was one of the better players in Vegas last year down the stretch- maybe they think last year was a hiccup and they will be back in the playoff hunt-just a healthy Price away.) |

About the trade and their All Star goaltender: Is the Price right?
That is the proverbial $64,000 (or million nowadays) question. |

I'm sure there's a plus or minus 5 to 10%. How do they get these figures? Do they call and just ask?

I've seen many recessions in my 64 years but I've never seen a recession in the US due to a shortage of workers? It has happened in China. Wages continue to rise in China. |

Housing starts and mortgage apps have already started slowing. How else do you bring down 8.6% inflation. Markets are pricing in a 72% chance of a deep recession have you been in a Costco gas line and heard the conversations?

And with the luxury tax, this one will have cost them 365 million. Worth it, sure to me, not my money.
It would have been interesting to see if the system allowed the Hawks to keep team in tact, how many titles they would have won. I'm saying it would have been more than 4 in 8 |

.......ya, I can see that. Bowman wouldn't have had to manage things to save his job.

Allan, Del Mastro and C. Dach among 88 invited to tryout for Canada'a upcoming WJC training camp. This tournament will take place in mid-August. This is last year's tourney which was scheduled for late Dec- early Jan but cancelled due to a covid outbreak. |

Might KD pluck a couple of these kids through.trades. Getting closer to playoffs ending, trades and The Entry Draft. Then free agency. We may not be involved with free agency - or only on a minor scale - but up and coming teams I am interesting to see them plot their course.
Take the LA Kings for example. They have to be aware of money paid out in which years for a lot of emerging young.talent. Too many centers? Several young dmen will be getting pay increase next couple of years? Brown retired. How much longer is Quick collecting? They have a 30 + goal scorer who will be getting more dollars - when? DeBrincat makes a lot of sense to add but would they part ways with Byfield and a #1 "23 and '22. Is there a n attractive enough prospect to substitute so that they retain one of those first round selections? Is Clarke available and a for sure top pair ceiling?
Maybe just maybe KD is interested in only certain style players with "x" amount of development needed. KD may want to add to the stable of prospects his kind of players in a rebuild |

Considering how often the Browns go through coaches and GM's I wonder if Poile will be on a short leash.

No Bedard or Fantilli. Guess they will be on the 2023 team to play around Christmas/New Year's.

Clarke's ceiling is higher than any D prospect the Hawks currently have on the roster.
Kings have no salary cap issues, they are $20 million under the cap and only big raise will be what they pay Adrian Kempe. Besides Kopitar and Doughty, the only player over $ 5M is Danault at $5.5
This is Quick's last year. Blake is not trading Byfield period.
Clarke is probably available for the right price, I would think he would be part of the return for ADB if a trade is made. Kings on RD have Doughty, Roy, Durzi and Walker. That has them set at RD for a long time.

Did you see the post on the 1st page of the Columbus blog from a Kings fan with his take on trade value for Chychrun or Laine. Yes they do have a deep system. |

and will be 83.5M next year. players still have another season of paying escrow before the cap makes any real movement. - Elbows15
Agreed and that's fine...Hawks could be in a very good spot in 2 years with a TON of cap space depending how Davidson navigates this roster with trades, cost controlled players, etc. |

Possibly...not every company can afford to go the Target route and just dump inventory at a loss,or little to no margin. Especially ma/pa retailers who could easily go belly up if that trend catches fire.
It's really a perfect storm of $hit that I think most knew was coming that you can't continue to print money and not expect to pay the piper at some point.
I just can't wait to pay $7 a gallon in gas by Labor day.......... |
