Vaselesky is good but not elite good. Tampa literally has had an all star team in front of him

It is the risk of wasting 4 years of involvement with said player, only yo have them leave.

The combination of a below average team/organization and college bound is a high risk.

Vessey, Peterson, Johnson, Levi, Portillo.
If that doesn't cause one to give their head a shake in this context, what would?

Disagree. Most of the ā€œelite goaliesā€ have good teams in front of them.

I would say igor on the rangers carries a bad or overrated team.

People poop on Gibson. But heā€™s been on a bad team. So is he really that bad? Probly not

Itā€™s all relative

Thatā€™s a helluva statement

Why waste assets, if he wants to, then come home next year as a FA.

I know people feel burned by a couple college players and assume there's higher risk and some kind of loophole.

What makes a Swedish kid any different? They hold the rights to both for the same 4 years (generally). The only one I can give is that they don't have the option of signing and returning to school.

I still say CHL is the higher risk, after the first 2 rounds. You have to make a quick decision on them and you're limited to 50 contracts.

Yeah, those trades donā€™t make any sense for the Sabres.

They're reviewing the positives and negative about a long term contract

But they believe they have players that can replace him at a younger age and cheaper.

Wouldn't surprise me if they use him to move up in the draft for a player

lots of interesting topics on spectors blog today

WASHINGTON HOCKEY NOW: Sammi Silber recently cited Sportsnetā€™s Nick Kypreos claiming the Florida Panthers are shopping starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky hard, so much so theyā€™re willing to retain as much as 50 percent of his $10 million annual cap hit.

New Jersey Devils winger Jesper Bratt is the notable new name, checking in at No. 10. Seravalli noted Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald recently said the 23-year-old winger is a big part of the clubā€™s future. However, sources said Bratt was available at the trade deadline and thereā€™s been no contract extension talks to this point

Puljujarviā€™s trade value is low right now and he could be available given the Oilersā€™ limited cap space. It shouldnā€™t cost very much to acquire him if the Predators are interested.

I'm sure Florida would love to get rid of Bobrovsky's contract. How do they convince him to waive his NMC?

You feel they take a swing on Yurov/Miroshnichenko if they fall ?

Well hopefully it's someone highly rated, seems like a waste of a asset, have plenty of picks to use to move up.

I feel good about the draft if thatā€™s the case.

Could be a big two days for us.

"Bobrovsky, 33, had a 39-7-3 record in 54 appearances for the Presidentsā€™ Trophy winning Panthers, posting a .913 save percentage and three shutouts. Bobā€™s 23.4 goals saved above expected ranked fourth best in the NHL per Money Puck, behind only Igor Shesterkin (34.1), Andrei Vasilevskiy (28.4), and Frederik Andersen (27.8)."

interesting that not so elite Vasilevskiy was second in the league for saved goals above expected

I canā€™t see Olofsson having too much value in a trade with one year remaining on his deal.

A guy like Buchnevich went for a second rounder and a blah role player last offseason and heā€™s much more sought after

I think he would be huge for one of those decent teams that struggled on pp

I guess it ultimately depends on what they do.

Do they deal him sans a deal and let the next team figure it out ?

Do they offer him a short term deal to stay in the fold then deal him afterwords ?

Does he take his arb award and play out the year and heā€™s dealt at the deadline?

Lots to consider

Come draft day its a different dog players fall and players later move up in the top

" This is just a example "

Buffalo moves up grabs Nazar and ends up with

Nazar, Savoie, miroshnichenko

Or

Kemell, Geekie, Salomonsson

Moving up 2 -3 spots might not mean anything now but Come draft day it could mean everything

I think since it's leaking out the sabres do not seem him as a long term fixture, you have to move him this summer
