Excellent analysis
- Canada Cup

Just going off of your statement that he could be the "real thing" while the other goalies apparently cannot.

It's so hard to predict.. Is Kuemper the "real thing" because the Avs made it to the Cup final? I mean his save % is under .900 in these playoffs.

Gibson has terrible body language when he gets scored on. Death stares at his teammates, eyerolls, etc. He's worn out his welcome in Anaheim.

Hard pass on this guy.

- fifty__missions

Yeah I've never seen this, just watched some goals he was scored on this year too.

The Oilers got to the conference final with Mike Smith. Colorado is in the Cup final and Kuemper has a save percentage under .900. No one know anything about goalies.
Just have to hope and pray you can find a goalie that can steal a game for you once in a while.. I think Gibson can still do that.. I don't think Campbell can.

His goals against % are pretty good.

well, most of the shots against him were probably 'real things'.

I think the targets should be Varlamov, Gibson or MAF.. With that said, I could see Dubas sign Comrie and trade for Mackenzie Blackwood.

Gibson led the league in saves above expected from high danger spots, a real problem for the Leafs. Obviously they’re going to look at a lot of data and won’t get him, just hoping he’ll be better. If they get him, it’ll be because they think he fits. The best we can do do is look at little snippets of information.

But I do think they’re going to try to get the best guy they can or get a couple of guys they think have the potential to do if and let them fight for the net.

As far as I can see (and I’m a bit of an expert only because I paid a lot of money for goalie lessons for my kid), there’s Gibson who could be the real thing and there’s a bunch of so-so options.

Play style his huge for goalies, has to be a fit.

Friedman said a month ago Dubas has been looking to get him in years past, if one thing is for sure he likes the way he plays for the system the Leafs have.

This could be a chance to get a top goalie in the league for cheaper than it should cost, there is a risk and I don't think anyone is doubting it.

I also think any team looking to trade him has analyzed him and have true belief he will be good, and that it it not a risk.

Buffalo has missed the playoffs 11 straight seasons, and Buffalo>Habs and will be for some time.

I still think Kuemper is a really good goalie. I wanted the Leafs to sign him last year instead of Mrazek, but his numbers have not been very good this playoff

I don't know how much stock to put in what the so called "experts" say.. Heck, Chris Johnson was saying that he thinks Dubas is interested in trading for Matt Murray..

Last 3 seasons

Goalie 1
70 gms
.903
-10.5 gsaa
quality starts 47%

Goalie B
140 gms
.903
-19.3 gsaa
quality starts 46%

to me these should have similar trade value.. when contracts considered

- senstroll

Price went through a 4 year stretch where he had .900, .918, .909, .901

There is more to it than these numbers

Dunno.
I just know that at 6.5m per, gibson has a 3 year average of .904 and gaa of 3.05. Very risky
To compare that with kuemper that you mentioned his 3 year avg is .918 gaa of 2.44

They are respected voices, I will put in a lot of stock in what they say.

Chris Johnston said that was speculation, he never once said it was information from any source.

And I gave reasons (data) why he could be the real thing. Is there someone other Fluery who’s performed at a high level who’s available?

I’m not actually advocating for Gibson. I don’t stay up and watch the Ducks but right now he seems like the most intriguing possibility and I don’t think he’s “lost” his game. It seems like he might bring what the Leafs need - based on the limited kind of information available.

If it's not age related decline or injury decline than what is it?

I think a team is going to get a really good goalie for cheaper than he is worth.

Someone is giving us something good for Jake Allen next year.

Might as well be the Leafs?

At this point, I think Colorado will keep Kuemper..

As far as goalies though, Gibson, while risky, is the best option in my opinion.. Yeah, he's got the 6.4M cap hit, but it's locked in long term, so there's some cost certainty. Varlamov and MAF are well past their prime, but who knows.. Maybe the Leafs are on Gibson's no trade list...

I don't think he's that desperate yet.

Allen would really help the Oilers for sure.

But we are talking about the madman who tried to win a Stanley Cup with Mike Smith.

I hear Mrazek is available. Habs don't need anything good, they will be dumpster diving all season to try to get a shot at Connor Bedard.
