Unless someone like Bergeron can be lured to NY, I think the organization slow plays this a bit. Team just came off an ECF appearance and I think that in itself will leave this core with a lot a confidence and a solid start to the season.

Some team is eventually gonna fall apart or just not meet expectation and maybe someone like a Kopitar or O'Reilly become available...maybe.

Bergeron is the dream acquisition but it's not even a pipe dream. It will never happen.

Drury with his magic dust will make it happen

Anything he said was before Cassidy got fired. Not sure if that means anything or nothing but it is something to consider. All these guys at the end of the day want cups, if he wants another one Boston isn’t the place imo

So the plan is as follows then:

- Fire GG and hire Cassidy
- Sign Bergeron
- Trade for Pasta
- Ice a line of Bread - Bergeron - Pasta, we can call it the carb line
- Win the cup

We are going to have accept that the top six as currently constructed, is Not built for a long physical battle. Zib, Krieder and Panarin, are not going anywhere for years. Laf is thriving to be a top six player and I believe with more experience and improved skating he will, there’s no questioning is ability to snipe. If Panarin is going stay on the left side of 2nd line, then the rest of the line needs to be reworked. Bigger, more physical to create some space, and make the opposition have to think about not only bread.

I’m in the camp of signing Copp if the deal is reasonable, if not to center the 2nd line, then the 3rd where he would fit like a glove. After this, it all starts to crumble a bit. I don’t know what or who Krastov is, and I’m sorry, but I don’t see Kakko as a top six player on this team. He’s not what they need to fill it in. I’m not signing Strome. If they wind up not signing Copp, I’m still not signing Strome.

The “stars” upfront are not enough, they’ll need help if the club is going to take that huge final step.

imo you guys go nuts on f/o's

Got destroyed in the first 2 series at the dot, they win both
Had a slight edge in f/o's against Tampa, they lose

I'm not saying I wouldn't mind them being better, but I would much rather have someone who can score 5v5 than win a f/o

- mdw7413

They just have to be better possession and transition team. That will lead to goals 5 on 5

I'm not sure I see why the Kings would rather have Kakko over Turcotte, and same with Blackhawks, why would they want Kakko over Dach?

even if both those teams have those guys on the block, why would they want Kakko, just a different underachieving guy

- jimbro83

Doesn’t have to be Kakko. Maybe CHI would want Othmann instead. The Kings are loaded at center and need wingers. Turcotte has been….pretty bad. The Kings have centers like we have wingers. Something has to give eventually.

To “balance” out the lines I’d consider dropping Kreider to the 3rd line. He would still get around 18 minutes a night bc of the PP time. Put Panarin with Zib and Kravtsov and have Laf/Chytil/Kakko be the 2nd line.

It’s not a bad idea. Everyone thought Kreider would be on the third line this year until he was on pace for 50 plus goals

even strength goals:

kreider: 23
Lafreniere: 19
Panarin: 17

it's amazing, even if you take away Kreiders powerplay goals and his shorthanded goals, he still had a previously typical Kreider season

Kreider was just another level on the PP this year. Laf should have a huge boost next year playing top 6 minutes all year and playing on the top PP unit

I think the answer should be moving him to RW

he said he's willing to do it, just let it roll...whether it's with Kreider and Zib or the Panarin line

they aren't ever breaking up Kreider and Zib

Kakko is obviously not the kind player who will deliberately elbow one of the oppositions's best players in the head and give them a concussion and Hunt was so therefore Hunt got dressed. Its that simple.
