The list of captains in the NHL like this past and present is pretty (frank)ing long and some are great leaders. Stop confusing enforcer and leaders. The type of player you think a leader needs to be is more of a minority in he NHL and I would love to have the complete leader on the Canucks but its not something you can simply trade for and is one hell of a task to draft at 18 years old.

Most teams don't have the player who covers all the aspects of team representation, the mediator with the officials on ice, the charity minded person who uses up so much personal time with the public and media, the role model for young players, the player who can put the team on his back and carry like a mofo, model of consistency season after season. Bo covers everything there but enforcer so why the (frank) are people taking it so personal?

Not at all. Captain Stamkos, like Captain Bo Horvat rarely fights so it was quite the attention grabber. They both do fight though... Stamkos has fought 1 more time but also been in the league longer than Bo.

A soft captain like Stamkos and yet Tampa is in position to possibly win their 3rd cup in a row. Once again history showing that a letter sewn on a jersey isn't the definition of leadership nor is being a fighter. Like I said earlier, its a team thing.

No, I won't pretend that I would know how a players is going to handle each situation.

C = protection? You are confused. Letters are for who talks to the refs and represents the team with media. Players select their leaders and it's got nothing to do with letters.

This is all about what you want and not what the players want.

This team jelled and played their best hockey in a decade once Green was canned. You know, back when your head was in the sand and you were defending Green giving it to people who were sick of him.

Coaches and players were talking a lot of their bonding and leaders stepping up since Bruce was hired and it showed on ice and with the results. You are completely contradicted and a step behind just like back in the preseason and early regular season.

Hedman is 6'6" 237 lbs. A decade in the league and has 6 fights. You don't win with players this big that don't fight every game clearly. 🙄

Take a look at the Captains of cup winner over the last 10 years. There seems to be a lot of players who have captains that are pretty soft. They lead by example and so does Bo. Team needs to be tougher... there is no doubt about that fact. Changing letters isnt going to do that.

There are certain examples of more specific demands that management has given the fan base what they had been demanding over the years. It's never worked out and it has really led me to believe most of the Canuck fan base has very little hockey knowledge.
