the Rangers were in this exact spot 7 years ago vs Tampa in ECF

down 3 games to 2 after losing game 5 at MSG, then stormed into Tampa and won 7-3 and forced a game 7 at MSG, but they didn't show up to game 7

- jimbro83

Yea that game 7 sucked, you knew about 5 mins into that game they had no chance of scoring a goal

What happened last night reminded me a little of the Flyers in 1995 in the ECF vs. NJD. Team in the playoffs for the first time in years, now on a great playoff run. Series tied 2-2, game 5 at home, game tied late in 3rd period. And then the bad guys score - in the Flyers case it was with about 45 seconds left. Just heartbreakingly awful. Then lost game 6 on the road to end the season.

One big difference here is that the Rangers have already won 5 elimination games in this year's playoffs, including 2 on the road. Yes, they're going up against a team with a huge amount of playoff experience and moxie, but who knows?

Yeah, its a tall task to ask them to beat Tampa twice one time in their own building, but this team has surprised me a lot this season. Never thought they would even be in this position. It will suck if they lose the series, but the other part of me is thrilled they got this experience(the young guys). If this was an older team and they were just going for it I would probably be more upset.

when he was hurt it was a wrist thing and I think it really hampered him even when he came back

and actually, thats the same kind of thing that was bothering Kakko

I dont want this to end tomorrow, but I cant wait to see them next year

- jimbro83

Yea agreed. They were saying they only had 9 games together or something like that

I’m firmly off the trade Chytil bandwagon so hopefully everyone can get off my case about it haha.

100%. It’ll be tough to see it end, either tomorrow or whenever. Been so much fun seeing the rise of this team. So many positives all season long. If you ain’t proud of this group you should root somewhere else because this the best season they’ve had since 1994, all things considered. The steps that they’ve taken was well beyond my expectations for this year, and hope most people feel that way because they should.

Deep down I’m terrified of what the Avs could potentially do to us in a series so that’s easing the pain of last night for sure. For me anyway lol

GG says he is considering "changing the look" of the team for Game 6. Sammy Blais is not an option, however.

And a deflected goal off a skate from a shot in the slot through the five hole for the lead and win

Colorado is am awesome team and have bad memories of 2015 and 1979. But I sure would love a kick at the can to see what would happen.

Just a final thought about the sucker puncher:

If he's facing 6 counts, he could easily get locked up for quite a while. But without knowing his situation, I don't think he should do a ton. If he has a wife and kids, is it fair to them to suffer because of what he did? I'd give him 1-2 years max, out with good behavior in 8-12 months, just enough to let him learn to never do something that idiotic again.

- jmatchett383

His family situation should have no bearing on the sentence. Married-with-kids criminals getting lesser sentences than "singles" would send the wrong message.

It's the 'man' version of a woman crying coming out of a movie with an emotional outcome. So I ask the question....who's the bigger pu$$y?

It’s not like Chytil had 7 goals in 72 games or anything like that. I mean he was terrible 🤷🏻‍♂️

He needed to come alive in the playoffs, and he did. I’m not pissed about it I can tell ya that much lol

- Slimtj100

I get his production was bad, I just saw “it” from him that when he finally put it all together he was going to be a real good player. These playoffs have brought another side of Laf we didn’t see in the regular season either, he’s much more engaged physically and much more confident/noticeable with and without the puck.

It was thick at birth. Doctor said I was the most leathery baby he ever saw. Over time it has smoothed out and now has a naugahyde look and feel to it.

Once the 3 of them get stronger with their bodies, like grow into them more, when they’ll have the puck and forechecking the sky is the limit for them. The glimpses we see now of that are just so exciting to watch. Off the rush too they’ll get much much better. They just have to leave them together and let them become a force on the ice. Don’t break them up, ever imo

I agree, but I honestly think that line in game 5 for the 5 min they played together of Panarin, Zib and Laf was epic. They were flying. I’d really like to see that.

But… that really doesn’t leave much for the other lines I know.

What’s going to happen if Schneider develops into the top 4? Can’t stick trouba on the 3rd pair.

Two of Robertson nils and jones will be around
