series is 1-1, best of 7, they can take the momentum tomorrow.
They play Wed, Fri and Sat. Laval is the underdog...and Springfield is healthy. Laval is missing Bourque (day to day), Barron and Vejdemo both done for the playoffs and Norlinder who is out with a concussion. |

sucks for the injuries, but I think the Rocket doesn't mind the underdog label, and adding Roy in the lineup could be interesting. the only thing I find that sucks a bit is the schedule, 3 playoff games in 4 nights, but I guess that's normal for AHL hockey.

Norlinder was playing the best he ever had in NA before getting assaulted by a talentless idiot on the other team.
Too bad for him really. I hope Roy keeps his head up.

AHL is crazy, sometimes 3 games in 3 nights, during the regular season.

are concussions a huge issue in the AHL? I never understood the "keep your head up" mentality, of course players need to protect themselves but the responsibility should always be put 100% on the player that is giving the hit.

I don't mind that much for regular season games (although 3 games in 3 nights is a bit crazy lol) but it isn't ideal for the playoffs imho. |

Well since the talent pool in the AHL is lower, you tend to have more talentless idiots who's only shot at making the NHL is proving how physical they can be.
So I don't know about actual concussions, but the risk of teams using said useless plugs injuring talented players are much higher.
So yeah... keep your head up because the league won't protect you... better learn it quick.

and unfortunately things aren't all that different if they make it to the NHL, consistency and player safety aren't necessarily a priority in that league either....

I think one of the most bonehead arguments I've heard is "if you don't like it, go watch soccer". tabarnak... as if it's supposed to be this normal thing that happens in hockey that we all need to accept, because it's tough and manly.

Yeah. I love big body checks and physical play.
I draw the line at dangerous, illegal and cheap.
Some of the dinosaurs saying what you quoted are still living in the era where Scott Stevens could headshot players in all legality.

I think it's because for a lot of people, getting rid of concussions automatically means taking away the physical aspect of the game, which is not the case at all. they'll probably never completely get rid of them, as accidents and bonehead moves will still happen, but it's too obvious there are a lot of improvements to be made. oh well, in the meantime kids, don't forget to keep your head up if you don't want to be blamed for getting hurt lol

If the league truly wanted to get rid of dangerous hit, they'd stop giving ridiculous suspensions to repeat offenders and would drop the goddamn hammer on these guys.
But no, let's give Brad (frank)ing Marchand 5 games or less for the 10th time.

the fines are even more of a joke... how the (frank) are they supposed to be dissuasive with the kind of money these guys are making? |

I think it hurts them even more in the playoffs. One game for Kane was big, considering what was at stake.
But if Marchand would miss 10 games during the season, that would hurt his team a bit more. |

I was talking about fines, not the length of suspensions... what does 5,000$ represent for a guy making millions of dollars a year?
but yeah they could most definitely tweak the suspensions and make them more dissuasive as well. |

Yeah, unless they give them way bigger fines, those do nothing right now. Which is why I mentionned them missing games. That's what hurt them. |
