Better yet, sell the team and burn all evidence they existed. Then every fan can just kill themselves. Problem solved, right? Maybe then you’d be happy. |

Lol. Sorry for being realistic and not a mindless fanboi.
Connor is by far the best player in the world but his attitude is really starting to wear on me. Drai doesn’t seem to care. I (frank)ing hate Kane and Kassian and will never cheer for them.
I did see parts of Hollands presser and he said he can’t keep this same team together. He knows they were final four but there are multiple other teams that are closer or just as close as the oilers and he doesn’t think he will be able to get a number one goalie. So I see the team being worse next year ( worse meaning they won’t make the conf final). |

I’m pretty sure no one has ever confused you for being a fan. No worries there.
I don’t think anyone is expecting a repeat next year, so you’re not exactly straining any muscles with that prediction. |

If you’re not expecting a repeat you’re in the minority of fans I see. The vast majority seem to believe they are a better goalie away from a cup. |

Wait a second… this is sounding a little murdery. You missed the all important KILL THEMSELVES part. Don’t go around killing people. Prison isn’t as glamorous as movies make it seem. |

Going to have to be through trades, cause there’s not a lot of $ to go around.

Except they can’t afford to even bring back the same top 6 forwards let alone add those other upgrades. Rishaug already saying he doubts Kane is back. |

Rags fans around the internet are giving Georgiev away for a 3rd. It's not just one or two, either; pretty much all of Capfriendly has established his value as around a 3rd. |

No need to worry K-man. I'm doing ok.
Series would have been different if Drai and Nurse weren't injured. Still proud of the team, final 4 nothing to sneeze at.
Sign Kane, get a goalie and drop some dead weight. Team will be on a mission next season. |

Take this for what it's worth...
I was at an event with many ex NHLers and a few ex Oilers. They all agreed that nobody wants to play in Edmonton and that the first chance they get, they sign elsewhere. I was surprised to learn that a great many players who sign in Edmonton do so because historically the Oilers are one of the franchises that offers contracts WITHOUT a physical. This is a huge issue for older banged up players! Many vets with families take that money, knowing it'll be their last gig, and probably won't even play out the term.
This is why EDM can't attract good depth vets...whether it is or is not a good place to live...they all joked about what a sh1t place it was, and how they couldn't wait to leave after signing/trading there. Of course it's different to play with Connor and Leon, but I had like 10 ex pros all in agreement that both Connor and Leon will walk. Broke my heart. "Connor will go to New York, guaranteed. You ever see his lady? Yeah, she's not lasting in EDM..haha". They joked. "and the German with the french actress? Yeah, no problem, let's live in the North fkn pole!".
Hopefully Connor and Leon have more than a few years in Edmonton, but guys like Kane, Nurse, and other young studs will likely bolt for the bigger more glamorous cities.
It also makes me appreciate Hyman even more, he comes from wealth, he's a young healthy power fwd that could have signed anywhere, and he contradicts everything I just typed above...so he could play with Connor and Leon...pretty cool.
Anyway...just passing on what I heard. I hope the Oilers fill their gaps and find more Hymans this offseason and win it all next year! This year was fun. |

Hyman
Nuge and Nurse have also chosen to stick around long-term so, even if that's a general rule, there are enough exceptions. I could also see Leon sticking around; his personality strikes me as the type to stick with one team. |

Not new news. Players only ever go to Edmonton if forced or if over paid. |

Teams just need to accept that players hit peek performance in the 24 to 27 age range. Once a players performance begins to fall off, the drop is actually pretty steep. There are very few exceptions to the peek performance theories.
Just waiting for a team to figure it out and act in direct response by applying conventional market strategies of selling when asset values are at their highest.
The great Soviet era teams forced top players to retire from the national team at age 28 even when they were still performing at an exceptionally high level.
If teams start selling off rather than trying to hang on to the players that are +28 the nature of the player market will change quickly and dramatically. Nobody should pay a 30 year old player more money than what he was paid when he was 26.
