Are you able to pull the report and post it?

He's been a huge bust. If I were an RHD looking for an opportunity on a young team I would definitely take a call from Buffalo.

He had a decent year this year, finally started showing a little of why he got drafted.

Anthony Stolarz had better numbers in Anaheim this year than John Gibson.
- TheSabresTaco

It took you all morning and 2 afternoon hours to figure that out?

you know who wasn't? Jack Campbell and John Gibson. Within season and by season.
- TheSabresTaco

1 down year..... how is that not consistent? Quick also played down that year... Cal Peterson though had a great 8 games... Must not have been the team then?

Yep

One important note is that goalies are voodoo, but if you have a guy that's been average or worse for three years running, there's a fair chance that will continue into the next year.

You know who the most consistent goalie has been year to year?

One Michael Smith. Vasi a distant second. Of course, Vasi was better.

- TheSabresTaco

So false its funny

https://www.hockeydb.com/...ts/pdisplay.php?pid=50142

Mike Smith had 2 down years in a row 3 times(18-19, 19-20 most recent)... then proceeded to get back into form.... Just cause a goalie has some down years means little to nothing when the majority of their career has been above average if not better

At the risk of furthering this nonsense, but backups generally have good numbers because they usually only play bad teams like the Sabres or Coyotes. Cam Talbot's numbers in NY were better than Lundqvist, but no one on Earth thinks Talbot was a better goalie.

All this talk about projecting goalies is insane. Unless we go out and get a guy like Helleybuck, we won't know what a guy is until he plays for us. All of these guys have warts on them.

Gibson on a good team would be really great. I truly believe that. But that is from me liking him since his world junior days

80% of a goalies success is partly due to the team in front of them.

Vasi is a good goalie. But he’s elite because for the last 3-4 + years he’s had an all star team in front of him

- Sabretooth9

99% of us understand this.

Good Post! But there's very few that can take over a series like Vasi can in the league.

I think we know Gibson can be a top 10 goalie in the league tho... last 3 years are clear outliers.

We're just looking for a "decent" goalie, why trade for a good goalie
