Good post.
I understand your over all point, and it is fair.
I know Ethan Bear was an example, but since he was listed I'll mention he was a healthy scratch for the entirety of the Playoffs this season. He isn't what I would look for.

So,I'd post though, point was made.

Gotta spend money to save money.

This is such a terrible look, but they timed it well so that few will notice.

A tried and true business axiom is to release less than exemplary news late on Friday as everyone is checked out for the weekend.

Doubly so after releasing feel good news like how they are going to honor Miller next season.

J Crag smartly pointed that out. It was not a coincidence.

I'm told they're planning on trading Cozens to make room for Eakin.

Christ every single person and their mother knew the Sabres were going to take dead money. I'm irritated because they can't get more from teams but you folks need to accept this roster as is, is not a cap roster. The idea is to get to that point.

Teams like Dallas are in a very tough place with next season's cap, so I'm very surprised the Sabres couldn't get more than a 7th round pick. Why couldn't the Sabres just sign a Very Good UFA to a 1 or 2 year contract that would eat up Cap space or sign one of their existing UFAs to contracts to use up the Cap space? This seems more like a gift to Dallas. I'm hoping KA took the best option available to him.... just tired of all the bad moves made by Sabres' GMs

Do you know for a fact that said "really good UFA" wants to sign with Buffalo?

Anything to get my Savoie
- gerbe75pts

Either of those two; Savoie or Gautherier are my favorites at 9.
Yurov, Nazar would be a nice consolation prize as well.

It's going to be a long off season for many of you guys if a nothing move like this sets the doom and gloom wheel in motion already.

Now if they come back with Anderson (or worse) as UPLs partner, I'll join you.

Until then, I'm feeling good about this team.

Still feel good about Donnie and the Direction. Hopefully Karmanos and Co. Can find a few gems. Just don't understand, he didn't weaponize he gave it for free. Oh Well!!

Cash out is much different than Cap Hit, and in this case likely only about $2m cash vs $5m Cap hit.
Economically Efficient.

Because his designation was already LTIR. They can bump him out of the cap with very few ramifications.
