Whatever. Semantics. You knew what I meant. The young guys are going to be the core. - Powerslave
It's not semantics.
Getting a real goaltender would constitute building around the young guys. Acquiring a cap dump to remain compliant is minor league behavior cloaked in vibes talk.
They're great at talking. Now it's time for Darcy to do something. I doubt he will |

if they are bringing in bishop, they have zero desire to make the best 3 additions to this roster in the coming offseason
literally begging dahlin to not sign long term by doing this |

given the fact there is a window for a goalie, a top 4 RD and a top 6 guy for 2 years
there is zero reason not to try to grab 3 guys to fill those holes and give this team a chance to compete and get out of the most miserable 11 year stench in the entire existence of the NHL history

We're more than a month away from free agency and they just made a move to hit the cap floor for next season.
The writing is on the wall. |

If you were expecting them to throw money around this summer, that's on you. Didn't little Pegula come on here and basically TELL everyone that next summer is when they make noise?

I'm not surprised by any of this.
I've been expecting Malcolm-Subban-or-equal to share the crease with UPL since March. I'm not happy with it and I think it's a massive mistake and totally unnecessary. The East is weak and ownership is penny pinching |

they have roughly 20 mil in cap space to add 3 to improve the roster short term and used 25 percent of that cap space to put a guy on LTIR and probably only get future consideration for it

you have dahlin, coming into his prime
and holding back team potential for another year

Boston, Pittsburgh and Washington are all vulnerable. Here's your shot. All it requires is spending the money on some short term deals. |

The sad part is with the stagnant cap the Sabres are in position to really take advantage of some cap dumps for teams who need it.
Instead we’re acting like we need it |

Don't you know that now is not the right time?
They'll really try to win starting in the 23-24 season.
It's that easy to start being a winning team. |

We still have plenty of space for a cap dump |

Can't afford to take advantage of that. Feels minor league to me.

Savoie is my dream at 9. If he’s 6’2 he is a slam dunk top 3 pick.
Kemell’s release will have him as a fixture on a PP1 for years for whomever drafts him. I don’t think he’s as good as Liiga point totals say he is (inflated shooting percentage) but he looks the part of a top 6 winger in the league and would be another sniper in the org if the Sabres happen to take him at 9. - Pegullaville
Agreed on Savoie.
Love me some Gauthier at 9 as well if he makes it there. |

Resign eakin.
Sign PK
Upl and Malcolm start the year.
If this is the path, do the vibes last? - Gr8daygo

They are operating like a minor league team. Don't have to be happy about that. - Lunaion
Or not rushing the rebuild, develoling properly, and timing the moves right.
It isn 't time yet.
1 more year...then many years of contention. |

Fact is we don't have a lot of room to even pay a lot of guys. We're still -14m. You use olofsson and mitts in a trade you're down over 16m. Like who are you even spending that on. Top 4d and a g could get you within 5m. Then a forward, like maybe, maybe you could get a few million over the floor here. Everyone else is elc and low cost. That's just what this team is for now. |
