Can you imagine what a great coach would squeeze out of this roster?! I agree, a good coach grabs 3-4 wins a year that you probably shouldn't have won. But the coach also doesn't hurt your teams chances of winning games, by blowing those games due to horrible coaching decisions. - Kevin Francis
Not just Ottawa, but there are many NHL teams out there that need to take a look at the available head coaches. I bet Vegas goes after Cassidy. Just my 2 cents.

Good memory Kevin. I can only recall the Vancouver game. I checked out at that point knowing the season was virtually lost and then they lay an egg like that.
Maybe next 1, 5 biggest wins. |

yesterday on the Team in the afternoon they were discussing the coaches.....and I forget who...Lee maybe...."well has this current head coach really been so bad for the development of the prospects?"......
smh...I texted in that this was a can of worms they didn't want to open, and yes I recognize they're a little handcuffed on the radio in what they can say |

The same Lee Versage who ripped on DJ all year on the afternoon show, now he is going the other way?! Incredible! |

The Oilers need to extend McLeod, Puljujarvi, Yamamoto and Kulak. They won't have the money for Kane. That's the top six winger the Sens should look to sign. No one is going to offer him long term so offer 5 million for a year but no more than 2 years at 5. Get him if you can. It's the perfect opportunity. |

Some desperate team always over extends though when it comes to a player like this. I would be stunned if some team doesn't offer him at least 3 years. That is what I'm hearing from sources. He will sign for the highest price after the Oilers arent able to offer him what he wants.

I agree. I can see him getting 4-5 years @6M+
Kane is a money hungry opportunistic. He's a good player with a crappy mindset. NO way this is a gay that you sign for longer than 3 years and sadly he will ask for max $ due to his strong play in a short sample size |

Then walk way. No way you're giving that guy 3 years and good luck to anybody that does. I don't have the inside scoop but Kane seems to be a project. Give the guy 1 year at 6 or 7 million if you have to. You've got the cap space and he'll be playing with Stutzle. Not McDavid but not bad and a chance to make a home with a coming team. No more than 2 years at 5 or 6. |

Like they say there's always a GM or owner that is willing to take the chance! I would never give him more than 2 years, that way if he has a down year, you know the following the year he will be playing for another contract. That's how that guy works it seems! |

I am with you, ideally 1 year, but like you said, no way more than 2 years!! He would look great next Stutzle, no doubt!

Desperate GM's trying to save their jobs, they don't care if a long term deal doesn't work out. Look at Peter Chiarelli in EDM, Koskinen is finally coming off the books this summer for the Oilers.
