They'll sign him next year after they can claim "it's been 2 whole years and he's done everything we asked of him. He has grown as a person and we will continue working with him as he makes his way in pro hockey".

I get why they are doing it (not signing him until next season) as they want to distance themselves from the former management team, but it's mostly a PR stunt imo.

If they think he'll be a good NHL player, they won't let him go for a 2nd round pick.

Yeah, this was talk about the other day. I feel this is really early to talk about that. At the end of the day, I think they will keep him or at worst, trade him. But I guess it's nice to have options.

I get that and its as it should be. Everyone needs a second chance and I hope the 8 players in the alleged sexual assault case have to suffer some consequences as well.

Agree with everything, but he didn't play much last season. From what I read the guy got skills and is worth more than a very late 2nd round pick, but we'll see. No hurry there.

What he did in my opinion is far from what we heard about the 8 players thing from Team Canada, but I guess it's baggage. It was dumb, but teenagers do dumb poop. I don't think he should be cancel for that. If he's any good, I expect the Habs to sign him.

He’s doing very well and playing on their 2nd line most of the time too. The lack of finish he sometimes shows is less of an issue when the other 2 guys on the line can score (in this case Rantanen and Kadri).
