Best goalie in the league is the most important part of the Bolts model. We're more on the Colorado path IMO. - lacaprup
Find your goalie.
Andersone isn't it. Doesn't look like Portillo has great interest in snatching a spot. UPL is hurt more than healthy. To merely trot back Anderson and UPL is misguided IMO, especially when Talbot , Campbell are available, and others could be longshots like MAF, Kuemper, etc...but hey, they are $137 Billion under the Cap Floor.
I think he has missed 32 games to injury
37 games to suspensions - homiedclown
I was kidding in regards to girgs and injuries.
I've been a fan of Wilson's for years.
Debated with the guy that (not thatguy) admittedly only watches 5% of the games.
He couldn't stand the guy or give him any credit for being a good hockey player. Sure, he makes bad decisions that hurt his team, but hes a good nhl hockey player.
Same goes for maroon and Reeves, a couple guys still playing in the playoffs.

both teams in the East have top level goalies... both teams in the west have serviceable to barely serviceable goalies. I have a feeling whoever comes out of the east wins the Cup

Portillo is most likely gone and UPL can't stay healthy.. that leaves Levi who is at least 2-3 years away from being an NHL backup.. they need to go shopping for a younger goalie this summer whether is RFA trade or UFA pick up.. vanacek, comrie, kahkonen, maybe try to buy low on goergiev (not sure on him) for RFA. there are plenty of decent lower 30 year old UFAs as well

I don't believe this, he has a clear opportunity to the NHL, and he's very close with Dahlin.

Sure, but go find me one of those two. They don't exactly grow on trees.
My point was the Sabres look more like Colorado to me than Tampa. We certainly need to spend 5 million on a goalie next year, but I dont expect whomever that is to be a top 5 goalie. I'll settle for top 15, which is very available.
Edit: And, even Igor is 26 and played a couple season in the KHL before he became the guy he is now. There's just no one in our system that allows me to think of the Tampa model or the Ranger model. I can dream about the Colorado model though.

agreed, i don't see that top tier goalie in our system.. as much as i would like to think Levi could be that guy i just don't think its going to happen. He could be that top 15 that you mention though

i hope you are correct. Still want them to go get someone with some life left in them this summer though. Even if he signs next summer he still a few seasons out

Likely 3 years away, each (Levi, Portillo), imo.
Imperative they get someone with life left. Like it was mentioned earlier, can't be doing this every year.
