So you mentioned something along the lines of if the draft goes the way I think it will ... begs the question of how do you see the draft selections playing out? - IonSabres
I don't think anyone can nail down the order so much as the guys who go in the top 10, give or take.
Slafkovski, Wright, Cooley are your top 3. Jiricek or Nemec could slide around in there between 3 and 10. Kemel, Yurov, Lekkerimaki and Savoie are going to be in there around 5-9. Gauthier, Yurov, Mateychuk, Kasper, Lambert, Korchinski, Nazar probably 8-15. We'll see how afraid the NHL is of Russian kids. I think Owen Pickering could sneak into the top 12-13.

It sure feels like Jiricek and Nemec are gone with the 4th and 5th picks, especially the last few weeks.

Yup you nailed it Buffalo is not scared drafting Russians They believe they can get ahead of the game With teams avoiding them - gerbe75pts
Thing is, the only affect here are transfer agreements. If these kids really want to play in the NHL, their contract will run out in Russia and they're free to sign here, just like Kisakov.
Would be nice to get one or two more Russians into Rochester and Nichushkin in Buffalo to make these kids more comfortable.
I think I'd prefer Savoie, but Cutter is absolutely smothered in Play Like A Sabre-WTBH energy. His coach is also the brother of our AD of Amateur Scouting. - TheSabresTaco

I've been pulling hard for this. I just don't know if 16 is appropriate or not.
He has a treatable cancer (Lemieux) and he's an elite talent. If it were me, I wouldn't risk trying to snag him at 28.

Curious why the bold matters...? - kingcong39
Between Adam Nightingale, Seth Appert and Don Granato, they probably have some incredibly in depth knowledge of this kid, more so than a majority of teams.
I understand why the question is asked, but if he is indeed drafted, it's because how incredibly comfortable they are with him and have 'known' him for years.

The question is where.
Doesn't seem like he would be available at 28, but do they use 16?

Gun to my head I use 16. The recovery rate for his cancer type combined with his natural skill and ability should make him a top 3 pick. If you can get a 1st line player at 16, even if you need to wait a few years, you do it no questions asked.

do you use pick 9?
it only takes 1 team between picks 10 and 15 to crush that dream

It's really hard to say right now without medical updates. I think that information will be made known in the coming weeks. Today, I would consider it. Based on my limited knowledge of the cancer, I would use 9.
