And he's no harllson - Anderdog
I talked to them a few weeks ago about the exact same thing. Murphy is values slightly more by their fan base than Risto was by our fan base - that should tell you all you need to know. They wanted the Vegas first but said they would settle for Paterka. |

Question
Is Murphy better than joker ?
If he's a bottom pairing guy
Is it better to sign grudbranson or shenn for that role ?

I think Murphy is different then Joker, not necessarily better nor worse
I don't think schenn or gudbranson can be counted for 20 minutes a night where murphy can
murphy has much more upside of course
murphy or ceci are 2 guys I would target in a trade for middle pair

These guys aren't robots. One size doesn't fit all.
If Rosen is still built like a teenager, why get him destroyed at the ahl level?
Getting your head kicked in by a bunch of ex NHL vets will not help him develop properly.
1 more in the shl 2023
1 year in the ahl / late season call up 2024 - Boss34
Rosen will be fine he's on a Better development path and buffalo planned this

Lance...
Victor Olofsson’s contract status is the most notable issue up front. He’s a pending restricted free agent after totaling 20 goals, despite playing through a wrist injury. The Sabres can simply give Olofsson a qualifying offer and take the case to arbitration, if necessary. A trade is more likely than a long-term contract because they need to plan to pay their young players in the not-so-distant future, particularly Tage Thompson. |

I am always skeptical of blocked shots. It seems as though if a D was better at getting the puck out of his zone (and not letting it back in) then his blocked shots would be lower.

Could be, but when you are starting in your zone 69% of the time, that's a lot of start zone time. |

yes.. can we get a guy that we know can hang in the NHL? - SabresFaninIndiana
Would you use Joker as trade bait for proven, defensively stout 2RhD...then resign Pysyk for 3rd pair? |

Usually, stats packs don't use or reference neutral zone or on the fly starts, as they only compare offensive to defensive zone starts and use percentages based off that. |

It was from what Lance wrote yesterday, and it was baloney, IMO.
Acting like a large contract extension for Tage means they can't sign Olofsson to a long term contract is nonsense. |

True - Buff36
Per Evolving Hockey for Connor Murphy, last season:
Zone Starts
Offensive = 6.79%
Neutral = 16.94%
Defensive = 11.42%
On The Fly = 64.85%
Faceoffs
Offensive = 23.07%
Neutral = 37.38%
Defensive = 39.55% |

Solid point, wonder why they just don't combine neutral and on the fly so as to give a more complete picture.
That said, it gives one a good sense if ones deployment...usually start you more reliable Dmen in the Dzone...when it is this out-of-balance it does tell the story. |
