That's fine. I'm looking for immediate forward help outside the draft anyway. Carolina should end that debate in a hurry.

We have a ton of young forwards either here, ready in Rochester or heading back for another season or two. This defense is pretty reasonably set with 5 young defensemen. Bryson could maybe be improved but the point being, there shouldn't be significant turnover for several years. Problem is, everything under the Sabres is absolutely desolate. Laaksonen hasn't really developed a defensive capability and beyond that, there's... Novikov, Lyckasen and Johnson.

2-3 legitimate guys who can step in in 3-4 years. We'll see what happens with Johnson and Novikov put some time in with the KHL and world juniors, so hopefully he has some promise. Obviously devoid of offense but he can still be valuable.

Couple years in the shl before the nhl?

Different circumstances (1st rounder vs. 7th rounder), but younger developed guys do not need to get demolished in the ahl

they need to play to develop. that wasn't happening in the shl. Olofsson stayed in sweden until he was 22. you don't sign a player so he can stay in a different league for three more years. usually that player is in rochester or buffalo within a year's time.

Getting your head kicked in by a bunch of ex NHL vets will not help him develop properly.

he didn't develop overseas, buried on 4th line

1 year of ahl practice will make him a better pro then playing a roll he is not built for, 4th liner

the signing of the player does not indicate your suggestion. If he has a poor camp and get destroyed by all the other prospects, I'm sure it's possible he's loaned to the SWE-2 league.

he'd not only have to be drafted in the import draft, but he'd also have to want to do that instead of both Rochester and Sweden. So I'd say unlikely.
