not like every journalist wrote about that 3 times, but they are trying to clear some space to sign UFA's
Who, thats the millions dollar question right now - Xizord
yes I know, but that doesn't make any sense. I still wonder why Hughes said that.
they would give a pick to get rid of a bad contract to sign who? they're not making the playoffs who ever they sign. |

After the draft and trying to move Petry, that's what he should do. Next season is not the Habs year at all. |

normally it wouldn't.
but at the draft, Hughes will tell every other GMs that Hoffman, Armia, Drouin.... add the name you want here, that these players are available, that you're even ready to retain some salary or add a pick.
every GM will say no thank you.
so what do you do after that? you call them back every week to see if they changed their minds?
imho, you go play golf. |

I think people underestimate the time and effort required to be a good GM, it's not because you aren't making a bunch of moves that you aren't busy at all. a lot of changes still need to be done if they want to improve on the previous management team.

they don't really need cap space for the summer, they can exceed by 10%. and when season opens, they put Weber and Price on LITR. - fidopro
So 10% is 8.2M Weber and Price are 20M so correct me if im wrong the in summer cap space will still be affected and when the season starts we will have 10.5M in cap space ? |

Drouin and Byron have one year left. If mtl add a pick...
Word is they came close to move Weber and that's a huge cap hit for a few seasons for a guy that won't play anymore. You never know. The thing is they don't really need cap space short term and I would rather keep the picks and using them to move up in the draft. |

close enough yes.
Weber is 7.8
Price 10.5
that makes 18.3M
yes it counts againts the cap during the summer.
in the summer, Habs can go up to 90M +/- (82M + 10%).
when the season starts though, they need to comply, so they put Weber (and maybe Price) on LITR. they still count againts the cap, but they get a refund sort of. they can exceed the cap by a certain margin to replace these players.
the only reason they would need cap space for this summer is that they want to sign a UFA. which doesn't make much sense. |

I (frank)ing hate Hoffman, he has a shot...that's it. Not the right player the Habs need - Symba007
ya...but I guess he the kind of floater that could work harder if there was a chance of playoff
Also not for nothing he was kinda kicked out of Ottawa |

They need to tank for a while. I know it sucks, but it will be better long term. +, moving all those bad contracts would cost many picks right in the middle of a rebuild. It would be dumb. |

no, but a good signature is always helpfull no matter the situation, I mean you need some better players to help groom the kid, tart the winning culture, etc
then you can perhaps trade them, see Toffolli... |

Then golf it is.
Get ready for the draft, sign Montembaum, give a contrat to Saint-Louis, see what's out there for Petry....if you move him, replace him. Sign your RFAS. That's about it. One year left to Drouin and Byron. |

That depends.
Would it be the best possible choices? Probably not.
Would I do better than Timmins? Probably.
