I didn't mean in the top 6 but we can expect 3 of them to eventually be on the team with Caufield, Farrell and RHP....with Simoneau as a maybe/long shot.
- Symba007

with all the picks Habs have, if RHP still makes the team.... we have a problem.
look at the teams still playing. Habs have more midgets than all of them reunited.

only 5yrs left on his deal at 6.5M cap hit. Only real saving in his buyout would come for the last year of his deal with 4M owed to him that year. Ugly before that

meh, I can live with Gallagher. he'll be an expensive 3rd liner, but he is still the heart of this team. unlike guys like... well you know who they are

Love Gallagher. You're right, he'll give everything he has until he dies for this team.

But he'll be an overpaid third liner moving forward, and on a team stuck with so many questionnable contracts.... it's not helping.

if they can move Weber, Petry, Hoffman and eventually somehow Price...things wouldn't be as bad but for now..

yeah, I remember he was almost in tears when he announced Gallagher's contract... I like that kind of passion but as GM you can't let your feelings take over like that.

that is the problem when you pay players a bridge or low level contract early in their career and they perform.

Then you have to overpay to keep them for less productive years.

I still think Gallagher is a 20-25 goal guys 45+ points, but yes, overpaid.

ever since Weber destroyed Gally's hand twice in a few years, the guy can't shoot the puck anymore

I think Hoffman can be usefull on the PP and if he starts well, moved at the TDL

I think Byron contract need to be moved first for the famous cap space needed in the summer

they don't really need cap space for the summer, they can exceed by 10%. and when season opens, they put Weber and Price on LITR.

They do not need cap space now, or even next year.

Also, I'd argue that Byron is infinitely more useful to the Habs than Hoffman.

They don't have much options after Suzuki, Caufield and Anderson. Gallagher is still likely to play in mtl top 6 next season.

If they move Weber and Petry this summer....the pressure on the cap will go down a bit. I expect they will take another iffy contract in exchange for Petry as part of a package.
