Never once said anything about you, but I get your upset, so go ahead and make it personal. I’m not going to needle any further. Honestly, it’s an absolute shame it ends with the refs. I’d be super pissed if the situation was reversed. I never would have thought that would even be reviewed, let alone overturned. It really was a great series.

Edit: the “you’re” I used was meant in the general sense.

Sorry mate. Thought you were calling me out for trolling your thread. I mostly showed up there with good intentions.

Good luck next round.

Just curious. Does the fact that Coleman scored a reviewable goal take away the ability to call a penalty on Cici ?
After all without his infraction on Coleman it would have been a good goal as Coleman would have been on his feet with a tap in goal.

I believe the rule is that a penalty cannot be called upon review. A penalty can be adjusted upon review (ie. rescinded or adjusted) but a penalty can not be adjusted upon a review for something like a off-side review or goalie interference. They can take the goal away, but cannot call a missed penalty. I believe is how the rules are on reviews. Tho I am not 100% sure on that.

I think a penalty call can be reviewed and adjusted (due to the Pavelski (?) incident off the faceoff a few years ago) but if a penalty was not called, then they cannot make a new call upon review.

Another case is if a high sticking penalty is called, it can be reviewed to determine if it was an opposing players stick or friendly fire. In such a case, they couldn't penalize a player for a slash instead if it caused a high stick, but rescind the high sticking.

I believe the way the NHL calls it is you cannot challenge a penalty but a missed on ice infraction. Leaves some interpretation to human error, but shouldn't be something egregious. Tho those can be misinterpreted at times.
