and vice-versa, I think Timmins had bigger biceps, so if they did an arm wrestling contest to determine the pick it was probably often his...

Still believe the GM made the call in the early picks and Timmins was left with the later round picks. Habs have had some success with later picks (compared to early picks), that certainly was not the GM's call.

I agree with your review and questions but I always fall back to this one notion.... draft the best player available no matter the current team needs. Easier to have to many good centers and have to trade one for an established winger down the road.

True but if you have a very strong centre line and a very good young « ready to play » winger is available, you may decide to be flexible on that rule…

He plays both… but when you look at the stats, there are games he takes some face offs…

Maybe someone can confirm that…

yes yes, they drafted him last year. but players who had success in junior but never made the NHL... the list is endless. you don't plan your draft because you think Roy could be the guy to play #2C in 4 years. you pick the bpa. period.

ohh yeah, I agree, you can evaluate the guy all you want but you'll never really know his full potential until he actually plays in the NHL

the question is, who will be the best player?
Wright? Sly? someone else?
we'll know in 5 years.

as long as the guy the habs pick isn't a total flop, and can play a solid top 6 role at the NHL level... a second liner would be a bit disappointing, but at least it wouldn't be a Galchenyuk/KK kind of disappointment lol
