they surely won't draft all of them, some will be traded, but there's lots of homework to do if they want to know as much as possible about the players available, so that they can maximize their chances of making good picks and distance themselves from that poopty draft record the team has had now for years. - Pat1993
It would be interesting to know how many times Timmens picks were over ruled by the current GM, and who was picked instead.

and vice-versa, I think Timmins had bigger biceps, so if they did an arm wrestling contest to determine the pick it was probably often his... |

When you start to analyze that situation, it gets very interesting…
Do Habs think they have their first C with Suzuki?
Do they think either Kidney or Roy can be #2?
If answer of both question is yes, maybe Wright is not as attractive as it would have been some years ago when they selected KK…
So picking Slafkovsky is not that bad…. but you have to be sure you have strong Yes on those first questions…
Can they pull a deal and pick both kids? That would be amazing but if it is at the cost of trading Khule for example, I am really not sure about that…
If they can trade for Fiala using their 2nd first round pick, maybe it can change the situation…
What I think is that Slafkovsky is NHL ready and can play next year on top 6. Wright, I don’t think he has that maturity…
Very interesting draft indeed!

I agree with your review and questions but I always fall back to this one notion.... draft the best player available no matter the current team needs. Easier to have to many good centers and have to trade one for an established winger down the road. |

He plays both… but when you look at the stats, there are games he takes some face offs…
Maybe someone can confirm that…
