I'm all for getting top picks and having a rebuild, but even I don't want to wait another 10-12 years to get there like it's taken Edmonton. Philly wont have a team because they will have folded from lack of interest.

i dont think you will need 10 to 12 years. well put it this way, if it takes that long, thats more of a reflection on the team picking high than the notion that picking high and establishing a core arent strongly correlated.

if you want to speed it up, just threaten bankruptcy or whatever. i hear that ensures uncle gary will make you right as rain in no time flat.

Look at TB and how long it took them to win the Cup after bottoming out? What was it 8 or 9 years after drafting Stamkos and Hedman? Now to be fair they got better and better but they didn't get truly elite until getting lucky with Kucherov and Point as well as Vasilevsky. As well as some other shrewd drafting and other moves. We'll be lucky if it's only a decade. Last time the Flyers had a team that was even remotely a contender was 2010. It's now 2022.
