Key work is the bolded.
I'm waiting to see what Dubas and Pridham will do - dmnted
Absolutely. Although, the only questionable piece in that is Mrazek.
There's no way they run with him as #1.
There's no way they keep him as an expensive back up.
Therefore, he dealt or bought out IMHO. So, worst case is that the Leafs have ~10.5M to spend on a starting goalie and a that 2nd line improvement. |

Just read Flyers will try to sign Kadri - mr.sir
He might want to stick around after winning a cup rather than to go to a rebuilding tire fire team

not really, they have to sign their 4 RFAs which will cost most of the 7M they have left |

Even with Mack likely getting 12-14M next season? - Santo_44
Mack has another season at $6.3M, so Avs have lots of $ if they want to sign Kadri. They will need to find a goalie. 10 UFA's. Leafs should be interested in Valeri Nichushkin or Andre Burakovsky, both could slide nicely into the top six.

If people thought Nylander was soft as slime and sucked in the playoffs...can't wait for the hatred going Burakovsky's way by game 15. |

I doubt we could afford either. You're not wrong though. Both are big bodied and have really developed their game in Colorado. Nichushkin had a year just a few years ago where he didn't score any goals in 60 games. This year he scored 25. I don't know what that does to your market value, but it sure seems like it's trending upwards.

Engvall and Kase ~ 1.75 on a 1 or 2 yr deal
Sandin and Lilly ~1.25 on 1 yr re-ups.
4th line with 800-900k guys.
Kerfoot, Holl Mrazek out.
That leaves 11.7M

He's come a long way this year, I thought. He seems to be throwing more hits and using his size to angle guys off on the wall. I always thought he was too passive in Washington.

Don’t need to touch it unless Muzzin goes. |

If Sandin can’t play on the right side, which he hasn’t shown he can do yet, they’ll need a guy to replace Boosh. (That’s unless Muzzin agrees to move) |

Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin and Gio are a solid top-4 grouping - you add in Sandin and Liljegren and that's not bad at all. If they resign Boosh that's pretty solid depth. As speculated, if Subban wanted to come here on a cheap deal - I still don't know if he's even worth it. I haven't noticed him in years and I've heard lots of people talking about how awful he is now, so I really have no informed opinion - but I'd have to assume that as a lower pairing right side option, he has to be a better option than Holl was.

Gio still has a cold from watching Point pass by him twice in the same period. maybe you guys don't remember. |

By this logic I look forward to getting Ekblad for a 7th rounder. Guy got (frank)ing turnstiled by Kucherov three times in just four games. |

A full year with Gio in the line-up and more growth from guys who haven't hit their primes yet? Doesn't seem like the worst idea. They were 15-3-2 with Gio. Yeah, they lost to Tampa. By a goal. In 7 games. Where I will forever feel that they were jobbed in the last two games.
I would be pretty comfortable running this team back out there. Make a few tweaks up front to get some more scoring depth and finalize the net - whether it's Jack or someone else.
It's a very good team. Even if you ignore my sour grapes about the officiating, the defense wasn't what lost the series to Tampa.

If Tampa has to let Palat go for cap reasons, the Leafs should definitely make a run at him. He has a few more good seasons left in him and he elevates the players around him. I'm going to be seriously sad if that guy leaves. - GalacticStone
