Seems more and more people are turning around on this guy being a great pick. Makes me feel a little bit more comfortable that if we're keeping the pick that we're getting a good player.

Yup he's going to be a good player! You're just hoping for more than that out of a 2nd overall pick. If he turns into a good middle 6 possession winger like Nichushkin or a lesser version of that in Puljujarvi, that's not worth 2nd overall. The biggest issues with him are huge red flags in regards to translating to success in the NHL, it's his transition game and pace(pace not in terms of skating, but in terms of thinking the game and making decisions with the puck). Scouchs' video on him that was just released is really good.

In this draft though it *may* be good enough i guess. I think it's Byron Bader who essentially said with Slaf you're hoping he becomes Rantanen to be worthwhile of the 2nd overall selection, otherwise he shouldn't even be a top 3 pick.

I like Slaf a lot and wouldn't be upset at all if we pick him(id actually be very excited because the ceiling could be huge if he hits it), he's just not the best pick. I'm still holding out any tiny bit of hope that the Habs are dumb and take him #1 so we get Wright though lol. Also, another thing, if we draft him we better get him over here playing in Utica next season. Letting him stay in the Liiga for another year would be a mistake. Follow the Rantanen path.

Charles with messier and chelios only emphasized how weak they are in comparison to his comfortability and charisma, even though he knew nothing.

Chelios is basically a perpetually baked senior citizen on an island getaway.. both mentally and physically baked. And messier is this high and mighty leader all clean and prim with his hockey Bla Bla Bla. They do nothing for me.

Then you have espn’s obsession with showing 20 monitors every time they put Boucher on tv. It’s just such a poor broadcast.

I'd be for it but I'm not sure he'd take another assistant job. I guess it depends on if he's considered for the HC position in any of Boston/Detroit/Chicago though, but I'd assume he'll be added to Fitzys/Lindys list of candidates. No idea what's going on there though, haven't heard anything in regards of rumors about potential assistants here. Maybe that's just a process that won't happen until after the draft/FA.

Unfortunately it seems like we're stuck with Ruff, I don't see a world where Ruff isn't the HC to start the season at this point.

Ruff deserves a shot with non-dogpoop goaltending, so it's whatever. Most of the underlyings of this team are good under him and his style fits what this team wants to do. I'm assuming he's on a short leash though if the team struggles even with average or better goaltending next season.
