Scheifele
14th overall pick
Stanley

To NJD

2nd overall pick
LW Miles Wood
C/RW Dawson Mercer

- jjonah

i'd do this, and then id take one of the 2 - top D rated to go in top 5 of the draft.

Love the ambition, but there is not a single trade here the other team involved would accept. You’re asking LA to trade their future for no reason, Florida to give two players better than Scheifele for Scheifele, and Vegas to give up an elite (and cheap) defenceman just cause
- Rexypoo

yes well, just throwing feces at the wall, but at least id didn't try to trade for 2 goalies

but some thoughts,

teams will over value Shiefele, by a lot, do to his offensive numbers and cap hit so whether you think he is better or worse than some pieces i was asking for may not be accurate.

Chevy and Ultimate are not the only two people in the world who will severely over value Stanley, sell now!!

Vegas and Florida need to move salary out, they have no choice!! both in cap hell, they may have to move a Theodore and accept a Dillon in a packaged return just to make their overall cap work

LA has more prospects then anyone else in the league, they don't have room in their lineup for them all, also a lot of them approaching waiver eligibility and you are only allocated so many contracts to sign. they need to move some now.

Nemec and Jiricek will not go in the top 3. I can almost promise you that. Wright, Cooley, and Slafkovsky will round out the top-3, unless there is an absolutely out of nowhere pick. If any team wants to move up for Nemec or Jiricek, they will be trading no higher than the Kraken or Flyers pick

Start with saying I'm a huge Barry Trotz believer. I think he signs in The Peg. Failing that, next on my list - Kirk Muller and Pete DeBoer.

I have potential deals for every NHL team, however I will give you the four that interest me the most:

1. Scheifele, LH D prospect and a 2nd to NYR for: F. Chytil, B. Schneider, K. Kakko and a 1st. The Rangers are all in these days, but if they win The Cup this season, this deal may be off

2. Scheifele and Schmidt to LA for - G. Vilardi, prospect (either H. Granz or B. Clarke), A. Turcotte and either a 1st or 2nd. Jets get a young , experienced centre with potential plus a high-end D prospect - LA said to have best group of prospects

3. Florida are in real cap hell. Scheifele and a 2nd to Florida for A. Lundell, S. Reinhart and Sam Bennett. Did someone else say the same? Jets get some solid players up front, the Panthers get a quality player and cap relief

4. Scheifele, Schmidt a LH d prospect and a 2nd to to Arizona for J. Chychrun, N. Schmaltz and a 1st. Arizona is kind of in rebuild but need a recognizable star, and can probably recoup the 1st+ next year. Yotes have lots of cap room and take on Schmnidt. Jets get that offensive d-man they sorely lack, a serviceable centre and a decent draft pick (not the Coyotes one).

Jacob, you talk of mock Entry Draft column. Last year we had mini contest for top 15 (which I believe I finished last). Mail-bag question - could we do the same this year oh this site?

I wasn't around here last year, and I believe Jan Levine will put that together. This will be set up a little different. Had some things fall behind, I expect the mock draft to be released after the start of June

when will teams learn, we see this every year where some great D slip out of the top 5 and when we look back 5 years later there is not a hope in hell you could trade the D who went later for some of the forwards that went before him

I'll keep mine simple.

Scheifele to NYR for Alexis Lafreniere ( plus maybe a pick or prospect like Kravtsov or Lundkvist)

NYR need a center as Strome is a UFA after season end. They also need to sign Copp and Vatrano. So a cap-friendly center like Scheifele makes a lot of sense. His buds Copp and Trouba also are there.

Alexis Lafreniere comes cheap ( for now ) and is playing third line LW right now with no real chance to crack the top two lines at left wing so long as Panarin and Kreider are there and Kappo also is a LW on the rise. Jets could use a second line LW. They have Dubios, Perfetti , and Lowry as centers already. ( maybe Stats as backup if he signs). Ehlers moves to right side

Connor- Dubios - Ehlers
Lafreniere - Perfetti - Wheeler
Barron - Lowry - Harkins
Sanford - Toninato - Svech
Appleton

Gustafsson, Lucius, Torgersson, and even Reichel will be good pieces to rotate in and out when they get their chance. Real solid depth here, would like to see one biggewr name added to that bottom six though

To Winnipeg: Rasmus Dahlin & Mittelstadt
To Buffalo: Scheif & Dillon

Some cap relief to sign PLD to long term deal, get a 3rd line center and a dman back. Buffalo gets star power and a solid dman.

Why would trading for 2 goalies be bad when one is an eventual LTIR casualty, and the other is a decade long starter for us?

Also, Vegas is not trading Theodore. Pietrangelo showed cracks last year, and Theodore is their true #1. Even if they don’t know it. Y

You don’t trade the cheaper of 2 top tier talents, especially when the other is over 30.

LAF and Kravtsov for Scheifele makes me very, very happy.

The lineup does not. 2 young guys can’t carry Wheeler to passibility, and that bottom 6 will create 0 offence

Of course, huge difference between 60th and 30th, lots of good names still on board around 30

Bobrovsky has a no move, there is no chance, like none at all he is coming to Winnipeg. so i ignored the offer completely

same goes for Vegas,
Piet has a full no move, not going anywhere, Theodore has no trade protection. i didn't say it was the smart move for them i just implied their options to get cap compliant wont be plenty.

Mark Scheifele for Jake Evans and 2022 Hurricanes 1st Round pick?
- YodaOldBoy

Unless I’m missing something the Canes pick belongs to Arizona thanks to the Dvorak trade. And Jake Evans is currently property of Montreal. So who gets Scheifele?

Thank goodness that Bob is not coming to Wpg! No Movement Clauses are valuable after all. But doubt that was ever given a thought by the Jets.

Maybe a "buy-out" candidate?

Blowing up the Jets Roster for a rebuild

1. Schiefele to Car for Necas, Suzuki, and Carolina 2023 1st rd

2. Hellebuyck to Det for Nedeljkovic, Berggren, 8th overall pick

3. Wheeler at 50% of Cap hit to Pit for Poulin and 2022 1st rd

4. Dillon to LA for 2022 2nd rd and 2023 3rd rd

5. Lowry and Pionk at 50% to tb for Cirelli and Cernak

And because Jacob mentioned wanting a fantasy Conner trade

6. Conner to NYI for Wahlstrom, Bolduc, Nyi 2022 and 2023 1st rd plus Bailey cap dump.

I was only entertaining a Scheif trade and keeping it simple. Yes the bottom six does need work and possibly Perfetti not ready to center yet. Still love the trade.

This is one instance where I agree with Chevy. From my perspective Stanley is underrated. This man will become the anchor of the defensive core. Cannot wait to see what Trotz does with this horse.

I believe that Scheifele has a modified no trade clause in his contract. He can submit a list of 10 teams that he cannot be traded to.

In addition, read today that after this years draft Wheeler’s no move turns into a much simpler basic 5 team no trade

According to CapFriendly its a 5 team trade list that Wheeler has for the remainder of his contract which is basically a 26 team no trade list.
