I don't know. I get what your saying about Ellis, not arguing that part. I mean Provorov and York looked pretty good together so if needed could you ride them if Ellis were out? I need to know more about the actual injury he has and the recovery on it.

If you can roll with York and Provorov then maybe you don't need a top 4 per se but maybe a more 4-5ish type.

I still think they need to move a forward or two especially if you want to keep Allison, Ratcliff and Laczynski.

I didn't mind Macewan but I would not resign him to take an NHL spot. I would be ok with him on the Phantoms and a call up if needed.

I would like to see a guy Hodgson win a spot on the fourth line. He seemed like he could find the net and his skating wasn't bad. Put him with players like Laczynski and Ratcliff and that line has some size and skill.

I don't know. Just thinking out loud.

Prov n York cant play heavy minutes as a top pair right now. I will say Prov actually looked better with the two young d than he did w Braun, Risto and Sanheim. Strange he looked better w the young guys

I agree, where they are, roll the dice on Ellis knowing you have York and even Attard. Zac needs to look around knowing here, he will be sent down due to young players. If he accepts that, Ok.

Attard was horrible, he’s a long time away.

My direction is you keep Ivan York Sanheim RR (sadly) in your top 4. Sign a good dman to multi year deal to anchor the bottom pair with Zamula. Anything you get from Ellis is a bonus.

Hodgson was another dumb move by the GM. You sign him then send him down while playing the no future NHL guys. Mind boggling. Why not an extended look? I liked what I saw from him as well. Wish got to see more.

Actually, he turned it around after a very shaky start and played well in the last nine games.

He's a much better option for the 3rd pair than a stiff like Hagg. And he's right handed.

The point to some extent, don't go get a top 4 D at this point in case Ellis cant play, this is not a contending team, if emergency arises let Attard or York play

The important question is does McClennon play flyers hockey......

bring back Sandin yet potentially let this guy walk. Rather take a chance on the unknown.

- hello it's me 2050

He is going to need some time in the AHL to learn how to play a 200 ft game -- there is no doubt about that. Spending time in the minors never stunted a players growth

Why force a captain if there is none there. Couts would be a big mistake. Run a season without a captain seems to be working for Rangers.

There are some vet defenders you could get for your bottom pair. Just depends on what you want and what your price range is. Just a quick look and here are some names.

Ian Cole
Brent Kulak
Jan Rutta
Ilya Lyubushkin
Colin Miller

Still think maybe you move a winger and get maybe a 4-5 type defender.

This is the basic concern right there. If the Flyers keep all forwards under contract including Brown plus all RFAs including McEwen they have 13 forwards already (12–if Brink starts with the Phantoms). It would truly be worst case scenario for those forwards plus all 3 younger forwards mentioned (not sure if there are others also) to be fully healthy throughout training camp and then each of the young guys be claimed off waivers by various teams. Maybe we have been conditioned a bit to be prepared for the worst. No denying that scenario would be tough and sad asset management.

If the Flyers were smart, they'd tell MacEwen if he wants a shot at making the Flyers next year, then he'll have to sign a PTO.

It’s a fair point. I also agree that Attard actually started to play much much better, but he is prob a year or two away from making a contribution.

Wade i think a team would take a risk even with his injury history as the skill is there to contribute.

Made no sense then or now why they didn't give him a longer look than 10 games. As you said he was fine in his 10 game stint. It is like the GM had no idea he has to clear waivers. Had to play the zac's and browns of the world. Mind boggling to develop a guy for years then not give him the opportunity when it was the perfect time to give that opportunity.

- hello it's me 2050

This!! I agree with all of this! Wade will be claimed as would ratman

I don't even know if I would do that. I didn't mind Zack like some but you have guys in the system like Hodgson, Laczynski, Allison, Ratcliff, Sandin. And Brown has one more year which I would suspect he'll be on that 4th line. Unless your moving out a winger somewhere else in the lineup to create a roster space I don't know if I would even offer the PTO.

Common, you know he's a lock for a multi-year extension. Meanwhile somebody better will get put thru waivers. And then we'll spend the next few seasons complaining about the whole ordeal.

At this point, complaining about the Flyers is more entertaining than actually watching them play.

A few good games doesn’t make a whole season. How many training camps have folks been saying Frost or some other prospect is going to make an impact? It would be a disservice to Attard to think he could fill in on the third line. He should absolutely play the entire season in the AHL

Provorov needs a partner who can skate and move the puck out of the zone. Braun is not that type of defenseman, whereas Ellis and York are which is why IMO Provey looked better playing with them versus Braun.

Ethan Bear not getting any time on deep carolina team. Where would he fit if the Flyers inquired? Would they move him and at what cost?

I am thinking he gets resigned. I wonder after this year did DeAngelo price himself out of Carolina.

Depends. With him it may be all about the fit and less media. If all about the $$ then very well could be.

He is coming off a big year and played on a contract paying him 1mil. He is an RFA and 26. I could see him as trade bait. Unless he takes a team friendly deal.

There will be a limited market for him, majority of teams probably say no thanks. All it takes is a few to bid against tho
