So they WEREN'T invisible? The entire team scored 3 goals in 4 games. How can you single any one player out?

2 years at 2.5 for the pens or one year at $15,000,000 for the Sabres. Hmm? Does he like money?

Don't know how the Pens can afford him with Rust signed, and Malkin and Letang needing contracts as well. Think the Pens would rather have 71 and 58 in the fold than MAF.

Guerin says he will make every effort to sign MAF despite the cap hell. My gut tells me MAF wants to play with Uncle Leo. Off to the KHL?

I could see him coming to Pittsburgh to finish his career.
Thing is, The extra stuff in that comment is ridiculous.
A) Pens were not WRONG to keep Murray over Fleury. 2 Stanley Cups and a cheaper/younger goalie playing elite--AT THE TIME--says otherwise. No one could have foreseen the fall of Matt Murray at the time. The fan base and its obsession with Fleury notwithstanding...
Only thing that scares me is that the fans' obsession with MAF could crush Jarry...

It wasn’t the wrong decision at the time but history has proven it wasn’t the right decision. Pitt made the call they should have. Sometimes it doesn’t work out.

He wasn't really driving play or generating many chances. So that's a red flag.

When did Giroux ever drive play ? He was never that kind of player. Likes to be complimentary not the headliner. Did Florida not know that ? It worked against Washington. He complimented just about everyone he played with both on offense & defense. But Tampa - they're a different animal altogether, a beast. They entered the "zone" when they beat Toronto. They were winning everything, even faceoffs. Left nothing out there, Florida was beaten in every facet of the game.

In summary, G is a nice player but is never going to be that kind of player. And when you think about it, is the kind of player the Flyers need. Someone who is going to define what it is like to play against them. An Ovechkin type. They're obviously hard to find.

Panthers cannot afford Giroux. He is gone. Chiriot on the other hand is affordable. I think Marchment is gone also. Panthers have a 5 mil hit from releasing Yandle.

I like Giroux. I expected to see him winning faceoffs, being a pest on the forecheck, throwing hits, getting a ton of shots, getting good looks and chances. I had to use a magnifying glass to see him on the ice at any given time. He wasn't ringing shots off posts and getting grade-A chances. No breakways, no scrumming, no nothing. Just a ghost with an orange beard.

Had Florida gone deep in the playoffs, there's a good chance Giroux would have signed there at a discount just for the opportunity to have his name engraved on the Cup. With the way the Panthers went out, I'm not so sure he wants to stay there now. With his roots based in the Ottawa area and credible rumors circulating earlier this year, I think he just might give up on the Cup and end his career with the Sens. Of course, I wouldn't sign him to a long expensive contract. I would only sign him at a hometown discount.

So Florida gave up a 1st, 3rd, Tippett...to rent a forward that can't drive the play and is just a complimentary player? That's not how Giroux was described a couple months ago. He was the missing piece, a top line forward and if he ends up in Florida or Colorado or Minnesota it makes them instant favourites. Now he's just a complimentary piece? Should have just went for Copp or Domi then.

I just always imagined that Philly was holding G back. He didn't have the right pieces around him and the right system. I imagined him coming to a loaded team like Florida and giving them that extra nudge come crunch time. I was wrong. Either Tampa's defense is good on an epic level, or G (and the Cats scary offense) was oversold.

If Giroux walks, that trade will be an epic fail. Nick F-ing Paul has done more for his new team.

G was prob their best forward against Tampa. At least he was noticeable. Can’t say that about many of the other cats forwards.

Your first notion wasn’t wrong. The Flyers were holding him back. He’s a playmaker who rarely throughout his career was blessed with a scorer on his line. The guy used to make some of the most incredible passes I’ve ever seen. He was absolutely electric with guys who knew how to properly read a play and bury the puck, such as Gagne and Jagr. Unfortunately, the bulk of his career was on the ice with other playmakers, or 200’ guys who certainly didn’t specialize in putting the rubber to the twine.

But time caught up to him. He’s at the end of his career. He’s got money, a family, and now a place in Florida. Prolly South Beach. I know he’s an avid duffer, so he’s got golf in the morning, tennis or sailing with the wife in the afternoon. Five star night life and restaurants in the evening. 8 figures in the bank. Life is good. I think he extends there at a reasonable rate. I’m willing to bet the family is very happy there, and the taxes are low. And on top of it all? He can hide in plain sight. Nobody will bother him. They don’t even know who he is by name.

He’s still a great piece to have on your team. He’s gonna get a ton of helpers. He can help Florida, and that young team is only gonna grow. Lundell, especially.

I’m guessing he’ll want a 3 year deal. Maybe 2, but I’m sure his agent pushes for 3.

If you’re Florida, would you take a 3 for $18m deal? Initially that sounds high, but prices are skyrocketing, and 6/year isn’t bad for a guy who will chip you 15-20g and 50-55 assists with a very good face-off percentage, to boot.

Maybe he considers $15-17m for a 3 year deal just to stick around Miami.
