Love the idea of going after Giroux for the right price. Giroux/Malkin/Rakel.
Is it realistic? If we dump Zucker and Dumoulin (or Pettersson) YES.
Would Giroux want to play for us? This is another question. - Barnaby36
I think dumping Dumo and McGinn is doable. Zucker is the tricky one.
Giroux’s cost is also unknown, so that’s a big x-factor. |

I have to think Giroux's priority has to be staying in Florida. Better situation than most teams in the East. It might be he refuses to go to Pittsburgh just like MAF refused to go to Washington. |

I think McGinn will be the hard one. Both Dumo and Zucker have 1 year left on their deals. Surely someone would take a flier on either, especially Zucker.
But either way, the point is that for the first time since 2010, the money is there it reshape the team. You can still keep your core for reasonable money and still have enough to solidify the goalie position and add a dynamic winger.
I worry the patient Hextall is going to wait for things to come to him versus going after it. I agree with a lot of the earlier posts that Hextall insulted Malkin and especially Letang with contract offers. The language of every player that spoke told me a lot. |

Its so annoying watching this Rangers-Hurricanes series. We are better than both of those teams. A Penguins-Tampa series would've been a ton of fun - SuperHenderson13
Two years in a row goal tending knee capped them. Sucks.

Giroux is primarily a wing now I believe. Maybe he will take a giordano discount to stay in Florida.
Letang and malkin should pay attention to gio |

I have 0 issue with Malkin/Letang asking for fair value. They took discounts throughout their primes. Plus, even at fair value, we can easily afford them. |

I don’t have an issue with them asking for anything either. I’m not insinuating they should sign for 800k. But gio wants to stay in Toronto so he took lg minimum when he could easily get a few mil. Geno I think has been compensated more than fairly his whole career. Letang got a heck of a pay day the day he signed his contract and then proved he was worth more. I just don’t want to see another gonchar thing where he goes to wherever for 500k more dollars. |

Don't really know many point per game players not on ELC/RFA contracts making 5m if those contract offers are true. It was an embarrassing offer. - j.boyd919
That sounds like complete BS IMO. If Hexy made those offers he should have been fired immediately. Low-balling is one thing. Insulting legendary core players is another. That's a sh!tty way to do business.
If I had to guess, both Letang and Malkin will see what's out there at this point. Not sure why they wouldn't.

I'll take a shot at Evander Kane for Malkin line for under 5 million to take Zucker spot.
Guentzal- Crosby- Rust
Kane- Malkin- Rakell
Crouse-Carter-Heinen
O'Conner- Blueger- Zohorna

They were always going to test free agency. Letang probably feels that the organization still values Malkin over him, and Nalkin has to take care of his Mom and Dad. I guess his Dad doesn’t work? |

Can the Oilers and Mcvideogame really feel good about that win? Oilers coach didn’t even challenge that goal. |

I just watched multiple highlights and angles of the Coleman non goal and I do think he does kick it into the net. From one of the angles it looks like a kicking motion...but the crazy f'n thing about it is the puck was going in, anyway. He didnt need to do that.
To answer your question, yes, the Oilers should feel good about advancing to the final 4 for first time in 16 seasons and winning that series, against the inter provincial rival, 4 games to 1. Absolutely.
Really hoping for a McMacWestern final now. McDavid and MacKinnon duking it out. |

To me that was a clear kick and I couldn't have cared less who won that series. |

Hey Matt I watched a few times too but I thought the puck didn't have the traction to go in. I thought MAYBE it would stop before crossing the line and YES I thought Coleman knew what he was doing there. |

The sad thing is that we could be playing right now. Carolina doesn't look unbeatable and we definitely are better than the Rangers. Tampa Bay would be a coin toss IMO. |

Yeah maybe it stops short, possible for sure. What a crazy non goal in a tied game that late in the game, an elimination game...then they end up losing in OT. Harsh morning today for Flames fans.... |

Thems the breaks. The Pens are not the first team to get effed in the playoffs because of injuries.

His other foot was in the air after it hit Mike Smith's pads, so my thought is he probably put his foot down to stop as a reaction did that toward the puck. That one angle looks like a kick but the other 9 don't. It's a dumb rule though, either allow them to use their feet or don't. The redirect with the skates vs. kicking motion is dumb, make it black and white so it's not up for interpretation.

yeah in all my years as a Pens fan this is the most what if's or buts playoffs I can ever remember hahah. So many if's and buts in that Rangers series haha. I didnt expect them to win the series before it started, it was hard to think that the way they played leading into, but they looked great and like their mid season selves. Harsh the reasons they lost but thats it, we've been on the other end of that stuff over the years.

Totally agree. Should be allowed to use feet with puck however you want IMO. Just not allowed to kick at other players or their sticks haha. |
