I think this is probably accurate. Geno's comments/tone changed from a month or two ago, when he was saying he was already rich and what not, to the locker clear out day where he said he believes he is still a good player and good players get paid.

Yeah, I just don’t get a warm and fuzzy vibe from the Hex/Burke team.

Its so annoying watching this Rangers-Hurricanes series. We are better than both of those teams. A Penguins-Tampa series would've been a ton of fun
- SuperHenderson13

No you are not really better then both those teams. In fact neither team. You were 3rd in division for a reason

Clearly the NHL wanted a big market team in the 2nd round. That's why they chose the Rangers and ordered Trouba to do the deed.

Did I do that right?

NHL always bows to Sid...they would have loved to see Sid move on.

🤡

Reasons*... But we don't expect your to consider any factors other than a final result. It's almost as if the Pens were ahead of the Rangers and in striking distance of first up until March when a stomach bug took out the locker room.. Not to mention losing their up until then Vezina candidate with a broken foot around same time... Of course there was other issues like missing every single player from their first PP unit for 3 weeks at one point... No Sid the first month or so, no Geno for half the season and much more. Despite all of that still finished with only 7 less standing points than the Rangers 🤷

Youre still coming back here because you're clearly obsessed with the Pens in a bad unhealthy way. Still haven't told us where they hurt you or touched you inappropriately..

Question: If the Penguins cannot sign Malkin... would anyone consider Giroux?

Giroux should definitely be on the list and honestly, he should be on it no matter what. I honestly have no clue what his value is, but if it’s reasonable I’d love to see him center Geno.

Geno-Giroux-Rakell

Pens would clearly have to dump: Zucker, Dumo and McGinn. Take some gambles on young players to fill out the bottom six, but I think it would be a worthy gamble.

Dump Kapanen and find another guy, bump Rust down to the second line. Im open to various line combos.

EDIT: Forgot about Rakell. Obviously he'd be the RW is he resigns.

Agreed, Im not sure how much center Giroux is still playing. I thought he was playing wing with Florida, but thought might be because of Barkov and Bennett.

Penguins should dump all 3 of those guys, especially if its the difference between us signing someone of value.

It really comes down to what Giroux is looking for. He may be still looking for similar money which would disqualify him completely. After hearing his sentiment about being on a team that cares about winning, maybe he’s willing to take a little less to be in a contender in general.

If he can come in around the $6M mark? If the Pens can dump said salaries 100% off the books, it’s possible. DOC, Puustinen, Nylander, Zohorna, etc… we’d have to gamble in them working.

Won’t have money for Rakell if you get Giroux

Heinen - Giroux - Geno is more realistic.

I did a quick AGM.

100% dump: Zucker, McGinn and Dumo

Signed:
Rakell 4.5
Giroux 6
Geno 7
Letang 8

Doc, Zohorna and Nylander in the bottom six.

Still have just over $9M to get a backup and add a bottom six upgrade, and a depth dman. POJ may be ready for 3rd pairing duty, so it may not be necessary.

Still works.

I’d grab someone like Johan Larsson for some solid two-way play. Maybe re-sign Heinen.

I'm actually surprised at how well hahah...how many roster spots would need to be filled with 6.5 mill?

You forgot to fix the part where you magically dump 12m in cap.

Need a backup, so that could be between $1-$2M.

If we roll with a few young guys, maybe re-sign Heinen? Grab someone like Larsson

I know you’re not talking to me anymore, but I wasn’t suggesting that it was very realistic. Just that if they could do that, they’d have many options.

Love the idea of going after Giroux for the right price. Giroux/Malkin/Rakel.

Is it realistic? If we dump Zucker and Dumoulin (or Pettersson) YES.

Would Giroux want to play for us? This is another question.
