He’s a dum dum. He’s one of these moronic fans who thinks whatever happens in past games or seasons somehow now allows his team/players to get away with dirty stuff.

This is very much the mentality of a child. It’s the “He started it!” argument.

Yeah..I dont have much of a problem with that hit last night in regards to targeting the head...but I do believe you're right to say Trouba is reckless as well....last night was a charge leaving the ice haha...so, kinda reckless

He has done it multiple times in this years playoffs as well as multiple times throughout his career. He seems to get a pass though. Clearly Bettman wants the Rangers to win the cup.

Again, guys like Hornqvist and Kunitz (and Hartnell and B. Schenn) almost always left/leave the ice when throwing a big hit. That's one thing I liked about Glue Gloves; dude never left his feet, just hit hard.

I think that's where our issues lie. Our xGF show that we were generating chances at a high rate, going to the right spots, rebounds, crashing the net, etc. We just didn't have guys who could finish. Had a team of guys who played the right way, but just had no finish. Basically had a bunch of bottom 6 players filling the 2nd line on a rotation depending on who Sully preferred at the time.

That's also why most of Geno's underlying numbers were in line with Sid's in chance generation and what not but the raw totals never added up because Geno wasn't playing with Jake/Rust with regularity whereas Sid was.

To me this is why Sullivan is so frustrating. He just won't give up on some players. Geno saw a lot of Kapanen, ERod, McGinn, and Carter.

Let's go the other way. Who had the highest GF compared to xGF. 1-Blueger +4.7, 2. Heinen +3.6, 3. Guentzel +2.7. Heinen played a lot with Malkin, Sullivan did get that right. Who stands out? The one guy who never gets an opportunity to play with top end talent. Lifetime shooting percentage of 11.2%. Maybe Blueger and Heinen aren't top six material. So be it. The thing is they both played well enough where they should have gotten a look. Heinen got that chance and finished the year 2LW. Blueger never got that chance. If FSG is serious about analytics, he needs to get that chance next season.

Nothing will ever change unless you make head hits the same as high sticks and call them regardless of intent. An unintentional high stick rarely causes as much damage as an unintentional headshot yet on high sticks you get 2 mins whether it was your fault or not. It's pretty dumb that headshots are in a grey area yet high sticks are no tolerance when most of them just result in a guy twisting his face for a little bit because it smarts.

You have guys who think that any headshot is dirty. You have guys that think only some headshots are dirty. And you have guys that think if you got hit in the head it was your fault. Good luck coming to an agreement with those groups.

So the NHL can either decide to protect its stars or stay an also-ran sport. The only people who like watching scrubs head hunt are old school die-hards. Watching stars do star stuff is what brings in new eyes.

I totally agree with you. At the very least I want Blueger to be the 3C and Carter to be dropped to 4C. Limit Carter's ice time since he's old af and give Blueger a shot with decent linemates.

Playing a $3M player to be a 4C is a tough pill to swallow, but I agree. Blueger should be 3C over Carter.

Use Carter like Sullivan did Cullen. Limit his 5v5 play, utilize him on both special teams. He can jump up when an in game injury occurs. He can play the right wing also.

Blueger had better linemates than Carter most of the season.

Not as hard as 9.5 for a guy to register 1 shot on goal in a game 7. That’s (frank)ing tough.

Every team is going to have those types of contracts. I’d rather see him used in a proper role and be overpaid then play him above his skill level to justify his cost.

I agree. Same applies to Geno. 1st line winger, 5 million a year. All day.

He wanted to play with his bro. Took exact same offer from Canes as Pens offered him. Wonder if he thinks it was the right move now though years later...

Re-signing Geno and Tanger shouldn’t be taking this long. At least to me the longer this takes the less likely they’re staying.

I agree, its just a really weird situation. Part of me think its Hextall dragging his feet, the other part of me says its two guys who have one last chance to get a good contract so they want to look at free agency.

Its so annoying watching this Rangers-Hurricanes series. We are better than both of those teams. A Penguins-Tampa series would've been a ton of fun

My gut tells me they both sincerely want to stay, but want to feel like they’re valued. I get the feeling that Hextall isn’t making them feel that way.

I think this is probably accurate. Geno's comments/tone changed from a month or two ago, when he was saying he was already rich and what not, to the locker clear out day where he said he believes he is still a good player and good players get paid.

Don't really know many point per game players not on ELC/RFA contracts making 5m if those contract offers are true. It was an embarrassing offer.
