Great accomplishment. Top scorer on a crap team. Should increase his trade value big time
How about he play of Hayes down the stretch? Any opinions on that?

- hello it's me 2050

He played better when he got healthy, after getting destroyed defensively when he was playing hurt. What opinion are you looking for exactly?

Since the Hayes signing he has 103 points in 172 games at -28. Konecny has 147 points in 195 games at -29.

Laughton will get more ES TOI than any of them.

What's actually expected is that Fletcher will pay another team to take JVR's contract, leaving a hole at LW next to Hayes or Couturier. And if those guys aren't healthy, Laughton will take their spot at center like he did this season.

- Feanor

How so?

Farabee-Couturier-Konecny
Lindblom-Hayes-Atkinson
Cates-Frost-Tippett
Ratcliffe-Laczynski-Hodgson

This is assuming there are no additions. Fletcher made comments saying the Flyers would have more younger players on the roster next season

I do watch the games. If not for the Flyers having the league's worst PP he would have had another 60+ point season.

Blaming TK for the Flyers being 29th is as dumb as blaming the previous season on guys like Ghost and Jake, and thinking that shipping them out would improve things.

- Feanor

No one blamed him for the Flyers being 29th, you love to add your little notes at the end.

Agree they messed up the whole Risto Ghost sequence of events. 100%. Would have rather kept ghost and found a number 6 guy that hits people and kills penalties for 2 or 3 mill. That 3rd pairing would have been much better than the wretched nonsense we had on our 3rd pair.

The Risto Ghost Yandle shyt poop show was enough for me to ax Fletcher. I think Risto on a good team as the 4th dman is a win especially once you hit the playoffs, but he is one of 3 number 4 dmen we have on this team and our number 1 guy has a mystery injury..

What an absurdly unrealistic lineup. Lindblom, and your entire 3rd and 4th lines will all play less than Laughton at ES. Ratcliffe and Hodgson will most likely go on waivers.

I suggest familiarizing yourself with how much ice time the Flyers forwards actually got per game in 21-22. Laughton averaged more than every forward but Couturier, Giroux, TK and Hayes.

Just doing nothing on defense would have been much better, short term and long term.

Now they're out the draft picks and a (frank) ton of future cap space with cement head RR and permanent training room resident Ellis.

He had a decent season considering the Flyers 1C missed most of it. TK is not a miracle worker on the wing.

None of that matters if he isnt on the team. Laughton played 2nd line C due to injuries, of course he had more Ice time. Fletcher said in his press conference he expects many of the younger players to make the team. These younger players are not going to take top 6 roles which leaves the bottom 6 guys who could lose their jobs.

Laughton is a guy who can be replaced by a younger player and moved for a prospect or pick. Im not saying its a guarantee but I think it is likely Cates is on the starting Roster and if he is, they want to keep him with Frost and Tippett who he had good chemistry with. To do that Laughton has to be placed on the 4th line or traded. Which is why I bring him up as a trade candidate.

FYI Lindblom finished 4 points behind Laughton despite getting 4th line minutes

TK was good most of the year, was pretty much the only Flyer capable of consistently creating chances. He could have done a better job of finishing his own chances, and god knows his linemates missed so many open nets on great passes from him, but he was a big net positive.

And yeah, even an average PP would have added another 10-20 points to his totals.

Flyers should definitely trade him away for depleted value to open space for 32-yo Nazem Kadri's retirement contract or to make another Kevin Hayes-sized mistake with Kevin Fiala, tho.

Can't get behind any hate for the players. I just can't bring myself to do it. It's frankly lazy analysis, and changes the focus from those who are actually at fault.

To address your examples, the Flyers could move on from Konecny, or Laughton but to what end? Lateral moves at best? That's Fletcher's calling card.

- FlyerFan3260

Don't hate TK, I try to pick him up for fantasy leagues hoping he turns the corner. He just never does, he shows flashes here and there. Laughton is a dime a 3rd/4th line player.

I am just saying to move on to make room for prospects or maybe so they can reinvent themselves somewhere else.

I am fine with them staying but wouldn't be sad if they go.

He had two good seasons of back to back 24 goals. Signed the contract, and had his best season of 61 points. So I would respectfully say this is inaccurate.

Had his second best season points wise this past season.

- MBFlyerfan

He had 1 good season 19/20, 61 points in 66 games. The two before that were okay seasons and showed promise.

Great, bring in Torts and let’s finish right outside the playoffs. This organization really knows how to further themselves down the road of mediocrity. It’s comical at this point, they deserve this.
- ClaudeFather

Since 1999 torts had 12 playoff appearances, 8 playoff misses, 1 SC.
Out of misses- he was a mid season coach replacement 3 times (he finished someone else's job)
Out of PO appearances:
1 cup, 1 conference final, 3 second rounds, 7 first rounds.

He has his quirks, and maybe he is not the best coach for the Flyers. But mediocrity is not his style.
and he has an ability to install the system and make players play within the system.

Assists are also points, and he had more points than any other Flyer.
- Feanor

He also had one of the teams worst +/- at -23. Only JVR and Yandle beat him out.

He had no points in 35 games this season.

Yes, we all know about the Risto debacle. But to be factually clear no one wanted ghost for free. No one. That is a fact. Not one GM.

Culture change doesnt happen overnight. The culture is defined by your leadership group. Your leaders need to set an example for the younger players.

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

This is complete nonsense. A winning culture is built by winning. There is no leadership group or leader that can overcome a lack of talent. You want a better culture, build a better team.

Not lateral at all. Konecny has a top 6 role on the team. Replacing him alters the team considerably. Get a worse player and the team suffers, get a better player and the team improves.

Laughton is one of the Leadership guys. If culture change is what you want, he is a guy that needs to go. If you look at the roster, a guy like Laughton seems like the odd man out unless you are playing a 3 mill player on the 4th line. If dealt you are not bringing a roster player back

- xShoot4WarAmpsx

LOL some funny stuff. You don't know that replacing Konecny alters the team in any manner until you know who is actually replacing him. If they intend to play Laughton on the 4th line, then they should trade him. Too much money to pay a 4th liner. However, he is better than a 4th liner.
