What teams need a center be first question and what the return be? Boston Seattle Detroit are teams that come to mind needing a center. - Scott1977
Why would Detroit need a center? They have Larkin, Vrana, Rasmussen and the immortal of the board Pius Suter? |

At the same time this could be a warning sign, 3-5 years we may be in a similar position as the Kings. - BetweenTheDots
The Hawks need the picks and the prospects to get to where the Kings are, hopefully they have the Kings problem in 3-5 years but you got to get there first

Also if Ottawa is offering the 7th pick for trade, what does that say about this draft? A team that hates spending money. |

The owner passed away last year, who knows whether his successor is the same, see Rocky vs. dollar Bill

I guess we disagree, i keep all my players who haven't hit their prime yet. They are the 1st wave of the rebuild. Like i said earlier unless someone comes along with a crazy Bowman offer for Cat.
Honestly i don't think any of these teams would have the cojones to give up prospects and picks for Cat. |

That tnt network always goes back and forth on shooting for the empty net and i thought Landeskog did the right thing. Bit the Avs in the ass for now.

Advanced metrics say better to shoot and take the icing if you miss. Score one for the micro stats guys |

The prospect that intrigues me from the Kings is kupari - Scott1977
Here's my scouting on him in his draft year:
Solid centre-wing with top end speed, a superb stride, and lateral agility. Why his name isn't being noted is puzzling as he is an aggressive knock'em-down-to-get-back-the-puck speedster who projects as an attacking left winger. His elite burst gets him in top gear very quickly and changes direction rapidly. Aggressively gets in for the forecheck, and will use his body to separate pucks from the opposition in the offensive zone. Creative in the attack zone, he makes nice feeds and is best when he has open ice to work in. Plays centre, but probably ends staying on the wing because he is not a high end stickhandler set up guy. Hands are quicker shooting than handling but can lose pucks in tight. Is able to cover lots of ice each shift, and does. He has an excellent shot. Needs to get better in his decision making, reads, and become a more consistent player. The fact he shuttled from Liiga, Junior A SM-liiga and Mestis and was asked to also shuttle between wing and centre didn’t help his progress. His lack of production this past year will see his draft value drop, but there is still much to like about this prospect. |

Um what are they smoking? - Scott1977
There GM says he has enough kids now and will take a #4 defenseman for their 7th overall....to play with all the good young defenders they plan to bring in...my question was is Murphy a #4 they would take, more sarcastic than real....

I don’t think the Hawks have the talent the Sens would want for the #7 pick. I wouldn’t give up DeBrincat unless the Sens added significantly to the trade.
Maybe the Hawks could trade Strome for the #39 pick. Or Strome and #59 for #25 and #103.
Maybe the Sens would take Murphy (plus) or McCabe (plus) for the #25 pick. |

Very peculiar.
TO me this summer/off season will likely have a massive impact on the next 5 years of this organization's trajectory.
DO they retain King? If no, who do they hire.
What do they decide to do with franchise cornerstones in 12/19/88...do any go? Who do they get back.
Do they tank for a top pick next year?
What are they doing internally to help prospects like Dach, Reichel, all the D kids, etc get better and more consistent? Strength training? Skill training? Power skating?
Again, like what I saw from Davidson at the deadline, and just needs to keep this moving forward to get his structure implemented, and get the ball rolling in the right direction.
Like many others, enjoy your posts Theo. Articles are fantastic and I read you religiously as well as the general athletic and that's about it..... - SteveRain

They didn't have a specific interview day, but most of the bigger name players met with the media and took questions before the last game of the year.
If you go to the website, they have videos of them on Blackhawks TV. It starts on April 26th.
Kane
Jones
King
Toews
They have some additional videos of Caleb, Strome, Raddysh, and Seth again after the Buffalo game, I think. - Chunk
Thanks for sharing that update, Chunk. I'll admit, I don't venture onto the Blackhawks website very much except to view the game schedule so I definitely missed these videos! |

Definitely get what you're saying. As fattybeef pointed out in a later post, the Devils are at the stage where they need to end elite NHL talent than keep stockpiling high-end draft picks and prospects.
Sure the Devils could laugh and decline this or a similar trade offer but they need to give to get, too.
Also, the Hawks don't have to trade DeBrincat like they didn't have to trade Hagel which means they can wait for the most favorable offer which they are likely going to get some pretty good ones to consider.
If they don't like what other teams are offering, then simply walk away from the table. - Theo Fox
The Hawks still need to ice a team that will compete. They don’t need to win, but they can’t win 15 games either.
I’d keep Strome, the Hawks depth down the middle is weak. Plus, 12-17-88 gives the Hawks one exciting line while the other 3 are blah. They’ll still losing plenty of games with DeBrincat, Strome and Kane. They’ll just be a little more entertaining in the process. |
